Default Private Brands, The Identical, Cheaper Version Of The Big Brands. Post Them Up!

Okay. I'm creating this thread to collectively gather information and facts about the auto parts, private brands (aka generic) are identical as the big brands (aka brand names) which are made by the same manufacturer. Please, don't confuse these with the knock off parts. These private brands products are on average between 20% to 40% cheaper in price than the big brands. I happened to found out by accident about Sparco steering wheels are made by Sport Line. Then, I researched further to confirm both Sparco and Sport Line steering wheels are exactly similar constructed in every ways, down from raw materials to design from scratch. The only different is the stamp logos on the steering of the Sparco vs Sport Line. Price wise, Sparco L360 suede, is $230 shipped vs Sport Line competition 20126, is $165 shipped.

Please, share and post them up if you found the similar products.

Theres a difference between paying for the brand, paying for quality, and paying for knock offs.

Brand doesnt always equate to better quality.

Same makers doesnt always equate to same quality.

Knock offs doesnt always equate to inferior product.

Those two wheels are shaped differently in several areas, clearly not the same.

So, like a hearsay, rumor guided parts thread for alternate but maybe, possibly, I think it's fact but not sure it's the same part thread?

Exactly!

Here is another product I found, but I can't confirm whether Lifeline is the manufacturer that made Sparco quick releases? Lifeline quick release $250 shipped vs Sparco $330 shipped new.

Not exactly Chinese knock off's (Since I think they're all made in China) but:

Centric, Stoptech, Power Slot, Sportstop.

Same ****, different label.

You are right on the part those wheels have the exterior design slightly different, but from what I know, Crowder Customizing, a Sport-line authorized distributor here in the US, said "Sport-line is the manufacturer of Sparco steering wheel products. Everything steering wheels is made for Sparco is the same construction and material as Sport-Line. The exterior design and the brand logo is the only difference between the two because of third party legal trading agreement."

To be honest, I just want to make this thread as constructive as possible. These parts can be post as legit unconfirmed facts and then we can confirm whether these parts are the same. This way, when the low budget guys want to buy good quality parts without brand names, they can use this thread as a tool, so they make a decision wisely.

Please, site your source and models. Photos would help.

Centric bought Stoptech, so they are kind of merge together. However, Stoptech is still operate and design their own parts in house.

Correct. I bought my rotors through Amazon a couple months ago from a few different retailers (trying to save some pennies) who probably had lazy stock collecting dust for who knows how long. Each box was labeled differently with the same part number.

Depending on what you search for on Amazon, retailers tend to think one is worth more than the other by name. Same part # regardless though.
