"A 350Z among Porsche's"
I got invited by the Porsche club in Saudi Arabia, Riyadh to attend an event tomorrow. And me Z will be the only non-Porsche car there (I think) or at least the only Z.
They will have some sort of a road course and they want me to take on the 911 Carrera!!!! So what do you guys think? Is it possible?
I will post picture and videos later

*edit* thats a wish list not an actual mod list, i don't know a 911 runs 3.7s and 12s in the 1/4.. not sure if you'll be able to top that, if you had your wish list i think it would be a much closer race.. let us know how you do, best of luck

FYI - from the Porsche website:
Porsche 911 Carrera
Rear-mounted, 3.6 liters, 6 cylinder,
rear-wheel drive, 4-seater, coupe
MSRP: $68,600 (USA)
MSRP: $100,400 (CAN)
320 hp @ 6,800 rpm
273 lb-ft @ 4,250 rpm
0-62 mph: 5.0 sec.
Top Track Speed: 177 mph
About your event, it all depends on the driver, but I'd say you'll have a tough time. Good luck!
BTW - Shouldn't this be in the Racing forum?

Riyadh huh? Are you an American. I would be careful if I was you. I was in Riyadh in 2000 and 1995.
In Nov 95, I was there when the terrorists detonated the car bomb at the OPM Sang Bldg. killing 5 Americans. I had to provide security for the bomb site. It was sad.
Anyway be safe. Lots of fanatics there.

You have got a good chance of beating the porche. Read this article in Road and Track magazine. The Z had a better track time than the BMW M3 and Porche.

You will not beat a 2003 911 of any sort, but would still have a ton of fun with them. You could hang in with a base 1999 911 no problem though. I say you should go and have fun.
If it's a road course, it depends on the driver.
I could run faster lap times in a Ford Econoline Van on snow tires than some people could run in a 911 turbo. On the other hand, someone like Michael Schumacher would put some serious time on me in equal cars.
I've run with a lot of non-turbo 996 911s (from the original 1999 models with 296hp to the current 320hp incarnation) on a variety of tracks. The Z matches up well against these cars. The later ones are a touch faster but that difference could easily be made up with tires or other mods.
So ultimately, you'll be going about the same as people with similar skill level, faster than people at lower skill level and much slower than the instructors or any pro drivers they may have.

Thanks guys for the input.
I will go for it
. They will have the follwoing cars as informed:
1- One Nissan 350Z
2- five Porsche 911 GT2
3- One Porsche 911 GT3
4- One Ferrari 360 Modena
5- One Mercedes-Benz E55
6- a number of Porsche 911 Carreras
7- a numer of Porsche Boxsters
The guy who called me (the organizer) told me that he will ask one guy to race me, and he is sure, knowing my driving and the other guy driving, that I will take him.
And yes, he loves "The Z" he had one long time ago, but now he has a GT2
On the other hand, we were talking about my wish list and he offered that as soon as I get the turbo he would ask Porsche to install it for me

And zand02max, don’t worry, as much as I think American, love America and Americans, I’m not American (sure wana be
). I’m a Saudi but not from “The Dark Side of The Moon”
I used to be scarred for me/wife safety but then I said F*** it and I bought the Z and I will live me life FREE
I will keep you posted about the results.
Thanks,
Az

It's like a fight between a little guy and a big bully. The chances of the little guy winning are not big but you get a ton of respect for putting up a good fight.
Good luck and be careful not to push your Z too much.
