Default Car spontaneously starts???

Hey guys! I need some help here cause I'm stumped. My room mate just parked, turned off the engine and lights and locked his car. As he was walking away it started by itself and the lights turned on...... He asked me for help so I went out, put the key in the ignition turned it to on, and off again but it did nothing. I didn't want to ruin the starter or engine by turning it to start, and wouldn't dare unhook the battery while it's running so I told him to drive it a bit and try to turn it off then. So he got in, touched the brake, and it just turned off, lights and all. I know it's gotta be an electrical issue, but I don't understand this. Has anyone experienced this before or have any idea what happened?
BTW, it is a '07 350z

LOL... He probably has an auto start installed and held the button down too long.

I think he just has a regular looking key fob, I'm not sure though :/ do they have auto starts on '07s?

Try holding the lock or unlock button on the remote for a few seconds and see if it starts.

Report back right away please.

They don't come with one from the factory but it could've been installed aftermarket.

That's normal. In fact advise him of that new feature you just found for him.

Did you also try the lock for a few seconds? Also try holding them both.

What you described sounds like an auto start. Especially when it shuts down after brakes are depressed.

I didn't know you could add those, but that's pretty cool! I've gotta check my Z now!

A car that starts itself...

Are you sure it's not a '58 Plymouth Fury, or an '84 Trans Am?
