It's always interesting to get people's reactions to the car. The most interesting for me came yesterday at work when a friend's wife saw it and said "It looks like the kind of car the bad guy in a science fiction movie drives". I took that as a compliment, because if it were a chick car, she undoubtedly would have said it was "cute". I'll take bad guy in a sci-fi over cute chick car any day!

Another interesting non-350Z-related car quote occurred on the season premiere of the Sopranos: "Your father's Boxster is a Porsche with panties!" Hah!

And finally, here's a really dumb thing said to me by a salesman, absolutely proving that they haven't a clue about their customers: he told me a customer is trading in his S2000 to get a 350Z and I mentioned something about the Z's greater torque. "Not only that," he said confidently, "but it's a lot safer too, since it's a much bigger car." Yeah, that's what sportscar buyers are looking for, doofus, the biggest, "safest" vehicle they can find. That's the second salesperson at that dealership to mention the large size of the 350Z as a major feature. They really don't get it, do they?

 

i actually got a "thats cute"


i was driving through downtown area of a pretty wealthy city .. and these girls circled the car near a stop light and one girl screams .. "is that a NISSAAAAN??!!"

i was like .. " WELL ... YES .. YES IT IS"

and she said

"THATS CUTE!!!"

ughhhhhhhhhh .. .. i have always gotten "CUTE" for everything in my life .. im tired of cute .. what about .. "THATS MANLY" or "damn thats sexy."

when is the cuteness gonna end.

Never, I have been hearing that word since I bought a brand new 1965 Triumph TR4. My sister-in-law, who lives in North Dallas, near Preston Road, yeah, you guys and gals from the Metroplex know what I'm referring to( their choice, ok with me), will say its cute. She drives a 2000 BMW 740iL and her husband drives a 2001 Tahoe he bought when he decided a 540iA was too much money! He drove a 1990 535 for 10 years before getting the Tahoe. When the Tahoe is available, my sister-in-law prefers to drive it, instead of the 740!? Between their 2 vehicles the combined weight of them is close to 10,000lbs.

My fat, little 3200lb Z will be "cute" to her. Whatever, I want my brother-in-law to drive the Z when its broken in and watch his face when he drives it fast. Even with the AT, the Z will eat up the 740. I know its childish, but I can't help it, after all, I bought a "cute" toy, not a sensible sedan. And I love it!

After 4, count them, FOUR years of driving my M2 Miata....dealing with "chick car" comments from guys, and "cute car" comments from women, I was hoping to shed the curse.

Alas, I see it was not meant to be.



Well, at least it can't be called a "chick car"...

 

The funniest one I've heard was "it looks kind of like the bat mobile" (The first time he my black Z was in the dark with the xenon light on).

Several people also asked if I talk to my car after they hear the nav lady say something.
