Default Horn honks at startup 2003 z

Hi all

I just got another new to me z and I am having an odd problem.

When I go to start the car, it gives me 3 quick beeps when it gets into the 3rd "start" position. The car starts and drives normally. Previous owner said it has done this as long as he has had it.

I believe it may be something with an alarm but it doesn't seem to have one. Pulling batt and waiting then putting back in did nothing.

I searched and found a thread about this happening in an Altima back in 2006 but the picture of course was taken off of the server so I can't see what he "pushed" or looked at to fix it.

Is there a alarm reset button even though I don't have one? Maybe a factory thing?

Any other ideas?

Thank you!

Stop pushing the wheel in when you start it.

In reality:
> Check for a short in the wires
> Reset ECU
> Check alarm wires if it's aftermarket

You have a short or complete circuit somewhere that shouldn't be there. One of the ignition wires is being tapped or grounded or possibly bad previous aftermarket alarm or stereo install.

Not sure why but I find the title comical, especially when I imagine it happening.
