Do you know what happens to the VQ engine block when pushed past the 500hp mark? It flexes, like a mother ****er, thus greatly reducing bearing life. Stay away from this unless you know how to rebuild motors.

I put a fortune into a Z, the motor took a dump, I bought an ebay motor and traded it in asap.

You may get the car for 1/4 of the cost & you might sell it for more or something might blow up and cost money you did not expect to spend.

My adult opinion is don't enter this Vietnam.

 

Let me go ahead and set some things straight.

First off: If you need to create an account to ask a bunch of strangers on the forums what a "1000hp" car is worth because you're interested in flipping it for a profit then you have no business buying the car to begin with, for any reason.

Secondly, I too just called Dynasty to inquire about the Z. The don't release any information about their clients cars to random strangers calling in. Weird right? You have to have the car owners explicit permission in order to do so. Since you brought it up casually I think its safe to assume you didn't have this car owners permission nor did you probably call them to begin with. In addition, they do not release any information pertaining to the financials of the build to people inquiring about the car. That information would have to be through the cars owner only. I already doubt you called but in the rare chance you did- lets be honest, you did not have enough things to talk about for half and hour with someone. LOL.

Thirdly, the dyno sheet you posted is fake. You either just Googled a pictures in order to satisfy people calling out your B.S. or the "owner" of this alleged car gave you a dyno sheet that wasn't his and lied to your face.




As you can also see, this car is a 2008 350z, and red in color. This video is also from 2014 and obviously no one would have a build from 2014 in 2016 with only 500 miles on it. Not the same car in any way.

Lastly, I checked all for sale listings everywhere I could think of for this kind of car and nowhere is there a listing for a 1000+ HP 350z. Anywhere. I really don't think if someone owned a car like this they would just throw it up on their local Craigslist. If you knew this "seller" personally you also wouldn't be talking about him from third party perspective. Such as when you said "apparently he's a well respected guy."

No, my mind is not made up because I still don't know if it's even worth 15K. It's an incredibly small market and I was hoping to find people with some degree of intelligence and maturity (and even wealth).... guess I was wrong

 

There are a ton of used cars I would buy for 25k before I would consider this one. Also keep in mind you will need a cash buyer as no banks gonna finance this for most people and the few they would probably wouldn't be interested in it anyways. 25g's gets you a nice z06 e90 M3 or most 370's all (other than HP) will be better cars to live with. Don't get me wrong I love my 350z but I would never invest 100 grand in it I'd get a used Gallardo or Vantage

In all seriousness its worth as much as you are willing to pay for it...I would never buy a modified car unless i knew the person who built it or the shop that built it and knew if i bought the car they would warranty the work the other person paid for. Its definitely cheaper to buy a car already built but please realize modified cars are not reliable 1 bit.

 

Im with you on the Gallardo (if I were investing 100K). I've always wanted to build a car, but knew of the financial consequences. I appreciate your feedback. as to what 25K could buy, but I was hoping to get a better idea of the actual value of the car. I never said I was going to pay $25K and nobody here knows the negotiation that has already taken place.

With that in mind, as the original posts asks, if anybody would like to tell me what they think a person would be WILLING and ABLE to pay for a car like this (cash) I would welcome and respect your opinion.

 

OK, here's the honest and overly pragmatic take on it.

For $25k, it's too much just based on the fact that it started out life as a generic 350Z and got pumped full of steroids and go-fast-appearing parts like many of our cars (yes, mine included). Don't get me wrong, I love, no, ADORE what people here have done to their cars! Appreciate their efforts, creativity, elbow grease and the $$ spent.

But I would NEVER buy one of their cars. Read on....

You said it thusly: "Value is defined by the price at which a person is willing and able to PAY"

And therein lay the rub. You'd be hard pressed to find a buyer at higher than that price, say $30k - to realistically make it worth your time to buy it, get it ready for, and keep it ready for sale, to make a decent profit. And how long are you going to sit on it waiting for the right buyer?? That's money right there. You know, "flooring costs".

So why so difficult to sell?

First off, those that don't have that kind of money but are attracted to the "novelty" and/or testosterone fueled need for that much power and looks obviously won't buy it simply based on personal economics.

Then, those of us who can afford it won't buy it for any number of reasons such as...

1. $25k+ allows one to choose a lot of different cars and the 350Z becomes just "one of the choices"; however pumped up it is.

2. Most people who can afford it don't want a modified (particularly THAT modified) car to start with preferring to manage their own build - or better known as "That's more than half of the fun of it."

I know for certain that I speak for myself. No chance in hell I'd buy ANYTHING that has more than a few bolt-on things that can be easily changed or reversed. And, like someone else said, unless I knew the shop/person/owner who built it and TRUST them, no chance.

3. And, now that you've publicized your intentions to flip the car and revealed all there is to know about it, well, you've just locked yourself out of a large potential market. Think about that. The web is vast but there are no secrets that Google wouldn't hold back telling someone about if asked.

That all said, however, if one were buying for personal use and you can afford it and want it for your own car, then hey, no one really cares what you (the generic "you" as in "anyone") paid for it and that you did pay for it at all.

Oh, and if they do care, there'll be people who think you're crazy or whatever and will throw virtual barbs at you. To which *I* would respond...

"Annnnnd, you are what deity to tell me how to spend MY money? Did you give it to me or make it for me? Because if you didn't do any of those things, go crawl back to your mama's pouch." (And that's an insult to kangaroos, sorry)

So, value of that car or "What would Mic pay for that car if he went batsh*t crazy?"

Their was a ls twin turbo 1000 hp daily driver monster in the for sale section for 30k that never sold... And that car probably wouldnt blow up in the next 100 miles.

And maybe 15k and a car is a horrible investment 99% of the time.
