Why do you want to wreck your light output more? The projectors are designed for HIDs use them. On top of that HIDs are generally the absolute brightest type of automotive bulb out there. Use the link I posted and get some good HIDs. The morimotos or OEM philips are really the only option for D2R lights.

I think this was stated before but if you really want to improve the output you need the 06+ projectors.

This entire thread is a waste of bandwidth. OEM '06+ lights with quality 4300-5500K bulbs from Morimoto, Philips, Sylvania (Japanese or German-made) will provide the most light and best beam pattern.

No Chinese-made junk, beware of knock-offs in name-brand packages, and no bulbs with a K-number higher than 5500K.

Actually a pretty cheap alternative, you can buy 10k bulbs on amazon that work for stock HID for like $12. Bright as all hell.

It's not just brightness that matters. Cheap bulbs have poor QC and capsule positioning, which F's up the beam pattern. I tried a set of bulbs from the HID vendor on this site everyone knows, and I sent them back immediately. I thought the passenger side bulb had actually burned out, but it turned out to be the beam pattern was too diffused to see. Really awful, especially considering the effort required to change a headlight bulb in a Z. Got a pair of Philips, for ~$85 IIRC, and all was perfect. FYI, if you're buying from Amazon, make sure you're buying direct, and not from a "marketplace" vendor, and avoid eBay sellers, too. Maybe they're not all bad, but the odds aren't in your favor.

10000K bulbs are NEVER "bright as hell", and purple lights offer greatly diminished visibility because your eyes are so much less sensitive to light at that end of the spectrum. Ricer mod.

Put in some 4300K bulbs and you'll see a huge difference.

I ordered a bunch of lights for my new assembly's today. I named them from the sight I got them from. I also have some phillips 6000k h7's coming from amazon, direct from phillips.

https://www.theretrofitsource.com/ sells the Morimoto's, which are OEM-quality, and they have a few different color temps (but nothing ricey-purple). I have the 5500K in my Z. It's been a few years, but I think they were ~$80 for the pair.

In my wife's Acura we bought the Sylvania's from Amazon for about the same price, but you have to buy direct from Amazon. The marketplace vendors on Amazon have a lot of Chinese-made-junk, just like eBay.

thanks, i want to get rid of my 6000k for some 5500's. i guess tonight when i get home i need to see what my fogs are so i can get something similar color for those. i bought the "hid conversion" kit for them and they are bright, but the bulb itself doesnt seal as tight as the facotry ones so moisture got in the housing

I was looking at some of the projectors, how would those fare in the refractor assembly? Would it cause it to overheat/melt the plastic?, or is that the other way around, a refractor in a projector housing?

I got the backup lights installed last night. Holy crap I can actually see to backup now. I am really looking forward to the second assembly to come in, so I can get them on the car.

Get the bulbs that fit your housings. There is a D2R bulb for reflector-type HID's, but I don't know if that's what you have. The only real difference is a notch in the base of the bulb.

Got the new assemblies in. Man world of difference. http://imgur.com/a/6Rw4K The only thing I dont like, there is a small black spot between where the highs and lows shine, not sure if you can see it in the vid.

Low beams here:6000k
High beams here:5000k

I'd get the regular (no blue tint) Osrams, as they have more light output, and your eyes are less sensitive to light in the blue spectrum. Ricer marketing gimmick,

I found some off-road 90w bulbs (can't rem the brand) that came with their own wire harness so you don't melt your existing wires. They have been in for 2 years and have caused no damage in the unit.

Polishing the lenses makes a huge difference too.
