Default What is this?

Hey guys,
Ive been driving my Z around for a while now and I have a plastic stick that came with my car. I have no idea what it does but it seems to fit in the hole in the images you can see. Is anyone able to help me figure out what it does or what it's used for. This car was recently imported from Japan.
thanks

This is under the steering wheel

James Bond style oil slick/bulletproof shield/smokescreen activation switch(es) depending on which model you have.

Seriously, no clue.

Don't think any US-spec cars have that so.... uhhhhhh....

Maybe a local (to you) dealer can answer that?

I wish it was a bulletproof shield. May actually avoid some stone chips on the road haha. Thanks anyway!

Does the car start without it in the hole? Could be an anti theft or something along those lines.

Yea it starts fine without it in. I've put it in and nothing really happens when i do it. I was thinking it may reset something in the computer perhaps but I'm confused as to what it does

part of a vehicle immobilizer system... i came across a search result that i am paraphrasing...tried locking friend out of car .... unlocked the car... got in ...locked it with the remote while sitting inside car...car started beeping -started the car then siren for the alarm went off...used the black plug key which deactivated the alarm siren also-if you google Cobra AC8510 you can see what an aftermarket one looks like

lol- oh yeah- the story i found- the guy was in new zealand also....
