id start at the cats and slowly reduce the exhaust down to .5 inch piping, that way it will sound like a dirt bike and you will have tons of back pressure which will ask like extra boost giving you a serious boost in HP.

Next mod get rimmed up with a killer system!

Honesty. I've head a 350z with the muffler removed(was actually the pipe broken at the muffler, but same idea) Actually didn't sound that bad

Devils advocate here. A muffler delete on 350z actually sounds damnnn good. Zero drone, no rasp, but has those nice crackles and pops when the RPMs drop. I get compliments all the time on it.

Source - my gasket broke off between the pipe and the OEM muffler(so it's essentially a muffler delete).

Gotta love the savagery haha OP 2 x 3" pipes won't have any back pressure. 2 x 2.5" will be the limit for being functional. Regardless of what you decide, it will make your z look like its owner just wants attention with a cheaply modified exhaust.

I do however strongly recommend doing what Erkthejerk73 said doing. 0.5" exhaust tips ftw

I too took off the muffler just to try it. Cats back it sounds decent with stock pipes. But it melts your undercarriage and driver side rear wheel well.

But your ganna REALLY regret going straight pipes. I hear dudes all around me running these and it sounds like dog crap. If you think your ganna impress anyone your not trust me. Car guys know it's a balla mod, and I've been with a car full of girls and they asked me what's wrong with that guys Z "it sounds like it's broken or dieing".

Aka why these cars have the reps of being trumpet cars.

But since you asked 2.5", unless you wanna go full tetard and run a 3"... either way it's ganna be a regret trust me.

But have some thicker skin man. You got a nice Trav, you don't wanna see dck head trav lol

Yea same I took mine off to see if I liked OEM or a little louder and to see how much restriction the stock can actually had. It's not bad but once you go full 2.5 or bigger it sounds like this....

And yet again, another exhaust thread that talks only about "sound" and not a thing about "performance gains". Sigh....
