I'm actually a hybrid. I bought one Z new (of my current go-'round with Zs not the ones 30+ years ago) - my former's Z34N (still in family but not with me) - and all the rest have been depreciated and pre-owned. Honestly, I can afford a new car if I want.... but that's the key word: WANT. New cars do nothing for me, pre-owned Zs on the other hand... 
Proof... wife say: "I don't understand why you don't get yourself a really nice NEW car instead of four old ones.

I hear ya, Mic. I've had similar conversations with my wife when I tell her I want another Z (either another Z33 or a Z32) to be my DD and replace my current Maxima. Right now, its more of my "fair weather car" at the moment. I'll be 35 this year and it's only my wife and I with no kids... and there are 5 vehicles at the house (including her work car). The neighbors think I'm crazy.
They may be right. But, it was a good selling point on getting my driveway widened and extended

I dont remember writing this, maybe this is the stereotype... Although I am down to 4 cars after I cut up the G35 and brought it to the scrap yard. And my wife is totally on board with a bunch of older used cars as long as she has one newer daily driver.

Funnily enough I've only seen 2 other Z's near me and both were driven by ehm... elderly folk. One was an 03-05 owned by a 58 year old man I've never seen, it's gone now though and I think he replaced it with a BMW M1 (which looks like a stupidly fun thing to throw around a track) and the other... well that's the cool one.
It's a 300ZX driven by someone who looks like to be 75+ and you can tell he probably bought it new some 30 years ago. But in contrast to what you'd believe from an original owner in his prime, this thing is dropped, got baller wheels on it and a loud as heck exhaust. I rolled up next to the guy, in my Z, at a red light, rolled down my window to give him compliments on his great looking Z but I swear to god he just looked at me through his shades, stone faced me, threw up a 2-fingered peace sign and took off with wheel spin and everything. I'd like to imagine he was smiling in a "I'll show that kid how it's done" kind of way as he left me in a cloud of tire smoke and turbo spool.
Howcome that's cool when older people do it but obnoxious and irresponsible when younglings do it?

LOL.. It's because when the younger crowd does it they're viewed as TRYING to be cool, but when older crowd does it they just ARE cool.
