Default How do I get my US market NavTeq to use the European Map DVD ?

I have a North American Market 2003 G35 (same Navigation as the 350Z).

I deployed to Germany with the Army and my G35 is now with me in Germany.

I’ve acquired the “NAVTEQ Xanavi X6.0 Europe DVD” for Nissan/Infiniti.

My Navigation player accepts the DVD without error but I get a black screen with the RED Vector (for the car) in the middle.

Looking through the settings, the car still reports United States with Canada as an alternative selection. The GPS screen states that all GPS satellites are out-of-range.

Do I need a special setup CD to program the Navigation System to access European satellites? Or is my Navigation System completely useless in Europe even though I have the European Map DVD?

Sorry for the shameless G35 Post but I am getting lost while driving here and the G35 and 350Z share the same parts.

Hey, T33602

It is because the navigation system in your G35 was designed for U.S. market region code 1, as opposed to the European market region code 2, so it is unable to read that DVD. The only options I know of would be to find DVD copy software that you could use to copy the European maps DVD and then rewrite or erase the region code, or replacing the navigation system with one from the Euro market that utilizes region code 2.

Good luck.

I moved from the states to Germany in 2012. Was there for 3.5 years (non-military). I was in Nuremberg (not far from Vilsecl/Graf). My company shipped my car at no charge and I ran into the same issue. I wasn't able to figure out a way to fix it. The GPS service that the navigation uses is in the U.S. only. In addition, the DVD region is card coded in Firmware and it can't be changed like other DVD players. I ended up just pulling the screen out and added a cubby.

If your in that area, I sold my silverstone 03 track edition to a soldier on the vilseck/graf base. Carbon hatch, hood, INGs body kit, black painted pillars w/LMZ 370z nismo s-tune wheels. Let me know if it didn't get totaled yet... LOL
