Todays rant
I got my Motordyne Gasket today & it was in the USPS envelope the item was in it's nice Motordyne plastic bag. It was folded in two spots & them two spots had tears.....................so I made more EFFFF'ing tears and trashed it in the trash can. I ordered this from the thenismoshop.com & wasted my money.
I agree with the frustration. Especially when one has a set deadline. Not many of us have the opportunity to just start working on our Z's whenever. With myself, I have a 4 year old with autism. I have to squeeze time for my last hobby i can grasp on. I have had my share of shitty experiences with receiving an item damaged. Especially GASKETS! Only advice to the OP, go with some of the more experienced vendors here. Anything gasket related, I grab it from Z1. Just my .02
No worries with the venting, we have all been there, done that. I just picked up a used Stillen SC, i'm sure I will start freaking out as well.

I'm going to say that those tears happened while being expedited at the Post Office. In larger cities, and cities close to that states capitol, a package like that would be processed by a machine called the ''APPS'', which has multiple conveyors and offshoots; and the 'damage to the envelope' was probably caused by the plunger that pushes each parcel into its designated hamper... I mean, did you check out the condition of the gasket itself or did you just have a temper tantrum after seeing tears in the envelope and throw everything away? Anyway, I don't think it's thenismoshop's error. If I were you, I'd go dig it out of the trash and look at the condition of the gasket for damage.
Knowing how packages are handled by the USPS/UPS/FED-EX, it would be their error if they took a part that they knew couldn't be bent and shipped it in a soft envelope. For the $10 shipping cost, they could have sent it in a USPS priority mail box and there wouldn't have been a problem. I think this WAS thenismoshop's error on that principle alone.

True. I agree with you. thenismoshop should have sent it in a box.
For the sake of full disclosure, I purchased an exterior emblem from them back in 2009 and it didn't work out for me because it would require body work, so I returned it accordance with their policy and they gave me a store credit (even though the policy said I was to be refunded - I figured, "whatever.") When I tried to buy something else about a year later using my credit, they played dumb. I sent them the email exchange we had with their RMA info and they ignored it. I contacted them three times and they ignored the three emails. I called them by phone and they wouldn't pick up. I've been scammed before by private-party sellers, but this was my first car-related purchase from an actual storefront where I got ripped-off.
Just so it's clear: I'm not their biggest fan.

There is no reason why they should have used a bubble envelope for this. Of course it will flex, bend and fold in shipping. Have you seen how they handle packages? I had brake pads shipped in the same mailer and they came loose from the oem box during shipping and had large gouges in the pads. They also should've used a box and I sent them back as they were unusable.
Companies need to be more practical and not just worry about the $2 they saved by shipping it without s box. They get large discounts by being a commercial customer regardless. There's a point where it's just greed and stupidity.
