Yes, true, a sane idea.... HOWEVER, they are still winning with their crooked ways. To have to pay for images YOU OWN (and are copyrighted by law per se) even for a month, they are getting money by ransoming YOUR OWN photos.

No, they need to do the right thing and allow users to delete their own pics (or upload them from the site with NO FEES.) I have worked in the software industry for decades and never have I seen such an egregious and flagrant violation (of sorts) over copyright and/or IP laws.

If I had pictures on that site - I deleted them and my account more than a year ago because of their incessant practice of spamming and tying up computing resources (see one of my previous suppositions on this) - I would strongly advocate for a class action lawsuit. Their company with their unscrupulous business practices need to be punished.

DO NOT USE PHOTOBUCKET TO HOST YOUR 3RD PARTY SITE POSTS (not just here!) UNLESS YOU HAVE PAID THEM THE REEDICK-YOU-LOUS FEE THEY'RE DEMANDING! YOUR PICS WILL NOT SHOW UP AND WILL BE HELD HOSTAGE BY THOSE SCUMBUCKETS.

I thought ransomware was illegal.... F'rs exercising a loophole.....

Why yes, I'm expressing how I really feel about them. Why do you ask?

BUMP. [Again....sigh....]

Hate to sound like a broken record but people are still using PHOTOBUCKET to try posting advertisement pictures in the Marketplace. All such ads are being rejected.

DO NOT USE PHOTOBUCKET.

Google Drive should be solid. This is an isolated event where PhotoBucket ran out of money and changed their policy.
Haven't seen or heard of any problems with any other hosting sites.

So the winning equation is clip their customers and charge $400 a year for something that is a fraction of the cost by other services! lol @ photobucket

I honestly don't think their management staff has a clue (or just don't give a shid, more likely) what their bonehead, selfish, f'd up move has done to SO MANY sites out there. Not just forum sites for cars or other hobbies but a number of instructional/tutorial pages, online sales sites that include everything from simple items for sale up to millions of dollars in real estate!

Bottom line is that their extortion tactics have hurt a lot of people - many of which have no choice but to pay the ransom to the greedy, unconscionable fuc*ers because it's $$$ for those affected sites to have to go back and fix their websites that depended on the photos.

I thought Travis Kalanick was an unscrupulous, self serving bast*rd... and look what happened to him. Can only HOPE a similar fate awaits Photofu*ket's management team and their BoD, who are just as much f'd up idiots as the team they have under them.

GRRRRRRRR............

@ Mic, This must be their "Swan Song" as they cannot sustain it,
I get the convenience of storing photos on a service. Super-convenient to share if that's your thing.
The sad part is we are at the mercy/TOU for each site when they go belly-up!
Some I upload, some go to the external HD.

Well, there's no news that Photobucket has changed their policy (again) and I still see that annoying ransom note where pics are supposed to be on many other sites so, we'll see.

Surely there's a way to lock in **** that's on a website, no? Photo****et may/may not, via fine print, own the writes to one's photo's but if they're already up on another site, how do they just yank'em? Seriously, how does this happen, physically? Said site ought to have a clause that supersedes all, in that what's posted is posted and if you want it back, go pound sand.
Someone get a damn petition going & float it to other sites affected. I would, but I'm far too stupid & lazy + I got's no skin in the game. Never used photosucket.

Bump.

Was just reminded about this and people (not just here on my350Z) are still trying to link Photofu**et pics.

I was over on another forum getting some info needed for my roadster. The one thread I needed had about 15 pics in it that would have solved my issue.

But nooooooooooo......

There ARE other pic share services out there as noted in this thread and elsewhere are workarounds to getting Photobucket shots on your threads but best just to go elsewhere.
