Thought this would be easy but not so thus far. I have a 2006 350z that I would like a aftermarket tow hook. In the pic the top one is the OEM and correct size, the black one is too small, the blue one is too big. Both were listed on EBay as hooks for my year 350z. Does anyone know specifically which size I should be looking for? Thanks!
I see. I'm pretty sure the thread diameter on the later cars is 22mm, but I couldn't tell you the thread pitch off the top of my head. Try a reputable vendor, like Z1.
The OEM one is actually stronger because of it's one-piece design. Might not look as pretty now, but you can buff that oxidation off with a wire wheel and make it look nice.. better than those aftermarket ones, imo.
I googled for ever but I didn't know what to call it. The fact it was with your jack made it even more confusing. I asked on here no replies, asked on another forum no one knew.
Then I saw a z on google with it on the front bash bar and was like no font way! I thought it was a tool for something until then haha

I guess you could've took a picture of it and did a google image search.. That's crazy tho.. Hahah.. I don't know, but as soon as I saw it I knew what it was for, and the fact that it was with my jack made it even more obvious I think.. But that's me. I have a simple mind. There is one weird looking hook type tool that's back there that I still to this day have no idea what it's for.

It's for the jack
You put the hook in the hole to speed up the cranking. I knew that as soon as I saw it.
Yeah I've used it before, but it takes forever. Just didn't get the flat-head screwdriver on one end and the eye-hook on the other end. Been using a 1 1/4 deep socket and a ratchet when I actually USE that awesome OEM jack.. It has it's uses though. Like today, for my energy suspension I'm installing.
Yeah I had the same issue. Bought the exact same thing as that blue one (but in red) from ebay, and it's a piece of worthless trash. And then I did nothing about it, because not racecar.
