Default Muffler delete??

Hey,

I currently drive an 07' Nissan 350z and have a stillen exhaust system. The overall volume tends to be a bit quiet and was wondering if a muffler delete would make it louder? Also, will the "mpg" increase or decrease?

Thx!

it will make it completely obnoxious! Please, for the sake of humanity and the shred of dignity these cars still have, dont remove the mufflers - it'll sound like complete garbage. The stillen was designed to be quiet for everyday normal driving and it lets loose in higher RPM ranges...

If you are deadset on a louder exhaust research what exhaust kits have the tone you want. Sell the Stillen setup and you can probably purchase the new exhaust with the money from the Stillen exhaust.

Why stop with mufflers?! I say everything from the motor back needs to go! It’s all just there for old people and hippy liberals wanting to “save the environment”.

You have a decent exhaust... just install test pipes or HFCs if you want more noise.

Maybe it's just my age, but I am so over loud exhausts on cars. I have had obnoxiously loud cars in the past, and my Z is by no means quiet, but it is totally daily-driver friendly.

If you want something super loud, just be like me and get a motorcycle. My Ducati is ear-bleeding loud.

Test pipes will give you a little bit of a rasps on lower rpms but will sound awesome at high rpms...

+1 stillen setup is legit...I sold my stillen setup ~2years ago for $700.

OP: Do us all a favor and take the engine out of your car and put it on jack stands until you grow up.

Nahh... not in a bad mood at all. It's just memories of an idiot who lived in my old condo complex who did a muffler delete and took joy in waking up all the neighbors every morning for two months until the HOA demanded he install a muffler or park off-site. He installed a Cherry Bomb muffler and acted like he was doing us all a favor.

You have to be some kind of self-centered ***** to do a thing like that.

+1

With HFCs plus Gemini setup my Z is already boarderline too loud for daily driver work. As mentioned its not a quiet car stock and I've added more sound deadening to help with that. Every Civic I encounter at a stop light these days is running some terrible exhaust setup. I'm sick of it already.

OP: If you have stock cats get HFC's. If you have HFC's get test pipes. If you already have test pipes with your stillen setup and it's still not loud enough for you, then go single.

My test pipes made a huge difference, but what I love most is that it is not ridiculous at normal driving, and really screams at WOT.

I would look into AAM or Z1

I didn't mention ART, because if you are considering doing a muffler delete, you aren't going to spend that much on ART pipes lol
