Default Fuel gauge issue

Ok so I’ve tried to find a good thread about this but haven’t managed to get any information/help. The issue I’m having is, I filled up the other day, my gauge read 3\4 tank. My DTE gauge pod in the dash keeps rising. When I filled up, it read 330 miles to empty. Now it’s showing 350! And my gas needle hasn’t moved from 3/4 tank.

Any help would be great. It’s very annoying.

anything that the DTE gauge tells you take with a grain of salt ... it's too smart for it's own good.

If you fill up and your gauge reads 3/4 of a tank you likely have issues with your fuel basket / fuel sending unit.

I dont know how to fix it other than replace the fuel basket ...

Mine still has about 7 gallons left when it says it's empty.

lol...mine, why physically full shows 1/2 tank on the gauge and shows empty at half tank. I bought a replacement basket back in the day that I think came from salvaged NOLA / katrina floods salvaged z ...

I believe it keeps calculating the value based on current MPG. So if you drive like you stole it the number would drop, but if you drive like an old lady the number would go up.

I've noticed my gas gauge goes up like 1/16 to 1/8 of tank after I've drive for awhile (10-20 mins). I guess the gas sloshes around in there giving a reading that is slightly higher then when the car was sitting still and first started. So this might explain the number going up too, the car believes there is more gas.
