Default Japanese import - Radio not working in UK

I hope someone can help.
I am in the process of buying a 350z second hand as I have always wanted to own one since I was young, (now 35) decided It is time.
The one I have my eye on is a Japanese import and it seems the person selling it has advised (unfortunately being a Japanese import the radio does not tune in but it does have an aux lead to connect to your phone for music.) Is this correct as I thought this would still work in the UK, or would this be an electrical issue with the car?
The car is a 2003 reg. Do you think I could replace this system with a new one and roughly how much would this be?
There is also one other issue, the rear support bar is corroded, is this cheap to fix? I have been looking online but it is difficult to work this out.
Are the imports ok to buy or do they have more issues or problems with parts?
Please can someone help advise me as I want a 350z so badly and dont want to miss out on this car if it is not a problem.

I know when I lived in japan, the radio spectrum seemed a bit odd from what I had in the US. Could be different for your area too.

Different frequency region so you would need to swap in a UK based radio to properly pick up the frequency spectrum where you are. Pretty much same story for any radio moved from country to country. As terrasmak said, the frequency spectrum is very different in Japan (vs Americas vs Europe.)

Price for swapping in a new, local HU depends on your local suppliers/shops. They're not that expensive but labor (which shouldn't mean much either) may make the diff for you.

If it has visible corrosion then I'd get the whole car checked for rust which can be a problem with Japanese imports.
