CapFear - I would seriously consider what JHC suggested with a supercharger over a turbo as it's significantly less cost and reduced complexity. If you 'have' to have a turbo than consider a single mid-mount or front mount. Twin turbos are extremely hard to install and maintain (if and when something goes wrong). And twins will be very confined and space-limited.

look up the installation and maintenance nightmares of the greddy twin turbo kit.

and is $10k your overall budget or your budget for the turbo package?

To be honest, you really got through to me about the maintenance. Current budget for the whole project (including the beater car I'm hopefully getting tomorrow) the project budget is somewhere in the neighborhood of 15-20k. I don't NEEEED a turbo. The main concern I had was trying to do less to my current engine, while I save up and get a stage 3 or 4 crate engine. I figured with the turbo lag I wouldn't be A. Launching harder than I normally do, and B. Where I live, there's not much around for digs. Heavily congested area. I don't even know where to start looking for a Souper charger. Back to Google

No personal experience but Steve and his crew have been supercharging cars for decades and have a solid rep.

Personally, after owning/driving turbo cars (4, 5, and 6 cylinder applications...Volvos, early Z cars) and a pair of supercharged cars, I prefer supercharging due to the immediate throttle response down in the lower ranges - FOR MY TYPE OF DRIVING (freeway, mountains, street on my current blower car). If I were going all out for best top end, I'd go TT.

There are obviously pros and cons of each type of FI method so I'd recommend that instead of looking at it from a raw horsepower POV, consider your driving environment and style before picking one over the other.

Curious also.... you mention "stage x crate engine". What type of crate engine are we talking here? GM LSX? Some type of re-done Z motor? Only curious because if that's what you want ultimately, why not just save for that and do it right up front while perhaps investing a bit in driving school now to get the maximum out of what you already have. Yeah, people get tired of hearing me say that but.... after 40+ years of varying hot rods, sports/race cars, etc., I am totally happy with <300 horsepower in a car that can pull a g (or dang close). Just food for thought.

Stillen / Vortech make a great supercharger for the HR and seeing that there isn't much on the market for turbo'd HR it may be your best bet. I believe the HR can handle a good amount of power - well into the 500 to 600hp and for daily use and track/drag use I can only assume this is sufficient? Above 600 to 700hp, it gets really expensive.

If you size your turbo right and have a good tuning platform turbo lag wont be an issue - don't assume bigger is always better.

I'd take twins off the table and look at a single turbo or a supercharger

The Stillen Supercharger has that nice air to water cooling that makes me think about it...

This is it boys. This is the one. Recommended install for an amateur is 12 hrs. Think I can forgo getting a beater car if I swing the SC? Someone else had mentioned it as well. After awhile...when I get used to having some "sauce" will I outgrow the supercharger? The main plan after is to hold my own if I go to the track, but I'd really like to drift it. Someone had mentioned driving school? Performance driving school sounds fun as hell.

"It's better to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow."

Hardware (or software) for a car is a one time thing.

Driving school is a lifetime investment that moves with you from car to car.

'Nuff said, I've used up my allotment of #drivingschool mentions for the year.

Heh. That might be worth it... I'm probably just going with the super charger. Tune it, then start saving for the crate motor. https://www.importpartspro.com/stage...initi-g35.html
Know anyone selling a super charger? 😅

There's usually 4-6 kits sold here on the Marketplace sub-forum every year. You can also use the FB Marketplace. A decent kit for ~3K shouldn't be too hard to find, just be patient. You can also use the "Want to Buy" threads here.

It's installed....I'm dead inside and hate my life in a different way, but nonetheless. It's in, and it drives.

Please do share. What was your overall experience installing it? Rough breakdown of hours to install?
