Default High Mileage 2004 350z

Good afternoon fam. So little bit of background. I worked at a car dealer, where a client traded in his 2004 350z with 145,000 miles. I purchased the vehicle for invoice at $3,000.00. A steal. Figured I'd turn this car into a project car, since I've always loved the Z's. Okay onto the main reason why I am creating this forum. DONT come at my neck for making a new forum, because I read through every single last forum about this topic, and still running clueless. SO. knowing my vehicle has around 160,000 miles on it now. I am looking to finally put it away and start dumping money into it. My end goal is too have this car kicking 500hp at least. SO my question for you guys is, which engine should I drop into the Z? Not worried about the cost, however cheaper the better. I want this car to stay a tuner, so im not sure if I would like to V8 swap or not. Please let me know what you guys think I should do. But the engine needs to be replaced. Let me know

most of these forums are pretty LS sided. Not opposed to the LS however would like to keep the 350 as JDM as possible. I explored the RB26 as well as the VR38. What do you guys think? Personally believe it would be pointless to turbo the engine I have now, due to the fact that I will most likely blow a rod or two. So my question is which engine should I swap it with? Keep in mind I am looking to put 400-500hp under the hood. End goal is for the Z to be a weekend joy ride/ track ready. Any advice would help

it really comes down to budget, and i would also take in consideration the availability of parts

if you were to turbo that old tired motor, it wouldnt last long. you could get a block from ipp and then slap the snail on it

Appreciate the response, however not too worried about what its going to cost. I plan to completely restore and in turn slap a rocket bunny pandem on, which is already in the works. Im not looking for 800hp or anything too insane. Just dont know which engine to drop, do I get a restored VQ or go crazy with a RB or LS or 2j idk. **** lol
