Dyno Tuning My 2008 350Z - 93 Octane - Flame Map
So someone needs to educate me on the attraction of shooting flames out the exhaust - while standing still.
Race, rally, drag cars with lots of cam overlap, huge fuel pressure, blowers and the like I get, it's a by product of making power for high rev applications and natural to spit flames on throttle-off downshifting. But to tune in severe ignition retard and constant fuel flow throttle off for parking lot cool, uhhhh, counterintuitive. If you study the flame map, you'll see that this is precisely what they do to produce flames (as well as the ubiquitous but useless "popping").
OP and anyone doing this, hey, it's your car. But dumping fuel into the exhaust (running the good chance of fouling cats and lambda/O2 sensors) after the fact and altering the ignition curve to make less power makes little sense to me. But hey, if you're happy...

YOU AIN'T COOL UNLESS YOUR CAR SHOOTS FLAMES AND POPS AND BANGS!!!

I am not cool.
I mean, if "hot" means to catch my car on fire IN A PARKING LOT, I'll stay "not cool". But thank you for educating me. I feel so enlightened. (And my Instagram remains boring.)
Hell, I worry about decel fuel overrun (pops n' bangs, yo) in my roadster; hence the fire extinguisher on my rollbar.
Daniel, let it be known here and everywhere....
