Default Importing 350Z to the US

I have a 350Z I want to ship to the US and I wanted to inquire about what documentation and everything else that is required, and where the best places would be to do that if anyone has any information

Contact Toprank Importers. They're the most reputable importers around.

Just some factors to consider....
  • From Japan or elsewhere? (Not that this matters too much but can factor in based on below)
  • Is it US spec or JDM (or other country/region, e.g. EU)?
  • If JDM, is it RHD?
  • Destination state?
  • Do you know if it meets CA or Federal emissions?
  • Do you know if it meets CA or Federal safety standards?
  • Is it a special/custom model or standard 350Z? I only ask this as the cost to import may exceed "making it worth it". Say, if you were importing a NISMO 380RS-Comp model then for sure, do it. But if standard Z, weigh the costs.
It can be done BUT if not US-spec, it will likely need to meet the 25 year exemption and possibly Federal safety requirements = which it likely does not. But as cobra said, doing it through a legit importer will definitely ease the move. They can tell you for sure if these requirements are met and arrange all of the logistics.
