Default Oem strut tower bar

I was able to get a OEM strut tower bar.. I was on the hunt for something aftermarket and was told the OEM bar is just as good don't waste your money.. So $50 bucks later I got one from a local Z owner. I was wondering, is it ok to powder coat it? and would it need to come apart for to be done. I was thinking of doing the bar "RACE RED".. for some reason i think the read would pop on the Daytona B17 blue car..

Yes its fine to powder coat and you really dont have to take it apart aside from taking it off the car. Shouldnt cost to much but in my opinion just spray it yourself with some good prep work and a good paint. But its all up to you man.

You can paint, powder, polish, they sell a paint that looks like anodized metal, that could look cool.

Always been a mystery to me that there's even a market for an aftermarket front strut bar on a 33. No mfgr of such has shown any data (that I've seen at least) that an aftermarket bar resists tower flex any better than an OEM strut bar. Yes, there's chassis flex between the towers - learned this on my S30 (and associate Dimes) back in the day when cars of the day were built a little less "robust". (Recycled tin cans.... ) I helped develop one of the first aftermarket strut bars for Datsun Zs (matched set for front AND rear) - so the benefit clear.

(I've had this strut bar, one of the original designs, in my garage for like 30 years and finally had a chance to use it. on this, my last S30)

But how much more flex resistance is needed over OEM on a 33? Can't be much so yes, OE strut bar, correctly adjusted and coupled with the rear tower support is more than fine, IMO.

Conversely, NOT running a front strut bar can be negatively felt as well. Nothing crazy, I assure you, but putting your car through its paces before and after removal can reveal faint bits of flex. BUT, you kinda have to be looking for it. You'd never notice it in everyday driving.

That makes sense. The cars was designed to have it so i gotta put mine back.(previous owner didn't think so) These Z cars were sports cars , made to handle, a true drivers car.
