not to say nothing, but this is where Nissan dealers really sucks. If you had a G35 there would be no hassel and you would have a set of new rims.

But have you called NNA?

I wouldn't cal NNA until after I spoke with the service manager.
Tell him that you agreed to the paint job initially because you were trying to be fair to him, but that the more you thought about it, the more you came to realize that painted rims just aren't going to cut it.

Then ask him to just cut you a check for the cost of the rims so you can go buy some of your own (That may be pushing it)

Actually............I did this already and my dealership wrote me a check for $400 for the scratches they did to my 2 front 18" touring wheels when they replaced the tires. I then sold all 4 wheels and used that money and the check to get a set of 18" track oem wheels from someone off this forum. We came to the amount of $400 becasue that what it would cost them to have someone repair the wheels. The service manager agreed that writing me a check would save him headache as well as satisfy me more because I told him that I wanted to get track wheels instead. They definitely have the disrection from NNA and power to do this so go ahead and ask for a check instead of OEm wheels (figure $400 per wheel instead of $1500 per wheel). I did have to sign a little typed written agreement that said that I was satisfied with taking the check which was fully understandable so I couldn't come back and say that they have to repair the wheel salso down the road.

don't know if this will help but I got winter tires put on my rims and they scratched up all 4 of them. I kind of whimped out and let them paint them. It doesn't look good at all. I would push for new rims. When I get my summer tires put on, i'll take it to the same place and i'm sure they will scratch them again and i'll ask for new rims then.

I called the service manager and said i didnt think the rims would look right being painted. He assured me they would look fine and that he would guarantee agains any chipping or fading or whatever..

I really didnt feel like arguing on the phone cause i dont feel i have any leverage besides being a whiney customer.

So i set up an appointment for next tuesday. Ill let them paint the rims, then in person im sure i wont like how they look and say i want new rims. Ratherr do it in person..

*note he said they wont be painting the WHOLE rim, just the areas that are scratched... I wanted to laugh after he said that. even better "spot" painting. im sure they will look just fabulous...NOT...

to be continued...

Sorry folks, i know some of you are saying **** all that and put my fist down. I really dont think it will be that easy unfortunately... ill see how it goes with the painting and then go from there...

Damn, I am now hoping that they f*ck up my rims so I can get a 400 dollar check from them. I'd gladly sell my rims and brand new tires and use that plus the 400 to buy 4 nismo wheels.

The 18 inch (Non Track) Rims are $788.00 from NISSAN. I KNOW because I saw the invoice that was provided by my dealer when they REPLACED my front TWO rims after they scratched them while replacing my tires.

My dealer didn't even offer to "Fix" them, he told me new ones were already on order when I arrived to pick up my car.

Good luck on the painting or whatever comes of it. The real problem that I see is that, even if they do a reasonably good job painting, the next time that they put pressure on it to do wheel/tire work, it looks like it will just rub/flake/peel off again and look even worse. Make sure that they understand that the repainting must hold up like new!

Good luck!

Hey spud, fvkc this service manager who wants to spot paint your rims and **** worrying about being a "whiney" customer. Let him do his crap service on your rims and if you arent 100% satisfied, you tell him. And if he balks you go straight to the GM. And if he/she balks you go to NNA.

I had to do this kind of stuff because my dealership put a minor ding on my front bumper...very minor. They repainted and replaced my clearbra, then the paint started flaking a little. I had them strip the clearbra off and repaint...Im waiting for reapplication of the bra again now.

BTW, I think my dealership did the same thing to my rims, but it was months ago and I didnt know to look at the rims when I picked it up. Now I have a small gouge on one of my rims.

aight fellas, heres the report.

I got my car back yesterday.

And you know what? The company that nissan had do the work, did a kick *** job.

Yes thats right! i cant even tell where the scratches are. I moved the car forward and back, got on my hands and knees, looked all the way around and i cant find anything.

I insisted on getting it in writing that if the paint comes off, peels, whatever. That they must fix this problem.

Ive looked at the wheels at different times of day and i only found one spot on the inner part of the lip that has a "hint" of where the scratch was.

So thats my report. I rub the car down more than i drive it, so you know ill keep my eye on it.
