Default Rev limiter also cut air?

Since the Z has a "fly by wire" throttle...does it also cut air as well as fuel.

I would hope it would. Thus avoiding the nasty leaning out.

just checked (for anyone who read my last resposne), 350Z does cut air and fuel as well as spark.
To never have to worry about it, just don't rev that high =/

Actually the throttle is eletrically controlled. There is no "hard" link between the gaspedal and the throttle body. It's computer controlled.

So it should be entirily possible to cut air.

Unless I am mis-informed. I was told it was a drive-by-wire throttle system. Like most newer sports cars.

If it was throttle by wire it could simply return the butterfly to a closed or lessened position. I have only test driven 3 times, im waiting to grad to buy but i know the one i test drove was a "test' mule and it had like 9k on it. I dont drive stick well since i've never owned a manual car and ill admit i tapped it a couple times. The engine though did what most cars do and hits it, backs off, and if you dont do something like shift or left of the throttle it will continue pegging the rev limiter. That means that it doesnt adjust the air flow necessarily, it doesnt feel like it lets off the throttle then gets back on it via the computer.

ok i have to edit this too, buy the time i finished other people posted.

Heh, yah just saw your post update.

Here is a snip form the brochure.

"Standard features of the 350Z Roadster and Coupe include carbon-fibre composite drive shaft, traction control system, viscous limited slip rear differential, electronic drive-by-wire throttle and dual outlet exhaust. Two transmissions are available; either a close-ratio 6-speed manual or optional 5-speed automatic (with manual mode) transmission."
