Default Tranny problem, Need Help!

Just got back from a drive in my 2003 350Z. To give the background info: Purchased 5/03, built 3/03, current mileage 16,000. The first week I noticed that the tranny didn't shift as smoothly into 5th as it did into the other gears. I took it into service at 1,000 miles and they said that it was fine and that Nissan informed them that the tranny would get smoother as it was broken in, standard dealership runaround. I figured I would let it go because it was not a serious problem, and at least I have documentation that it was a problem from the beginning. So tonight, after a shift quick shift from 4th to 5th at about 4k rpm, I heard a grind and now can't get it to go back into 5th gear after shifting to sixth. Along with that the shifter feels very loose and wobbles going into all gears.

Anyone have a similar problem? Any advice on what could be the problem?

Is Nissan going to give me trouble about covering this under warranty?

Thanks

Default 5th gear grind

I have a 2003 TC with a manual trans WITH 20K .

Several months ago, I noticed I could not shift into 5th gear at 4k rpm's or more. THE CAR IS IN THE SHOP

I TOLD THE DEALER TO INSTRUCT THE MEACHANIC TO TAKE THE CAR HOME AND DRIVE IT TO SIMULATE THE PROBLEM

UNDER 4K RPM'S NO SHIFTING PROBLEMS

What's a TC? Toyota Corolla? Toyota Camry?

I'm surprised the dealer obliged and let the mechanic take it home and drive it - purely thinking liability reasons.

NismoZ03, Good luck and I don't see why they would give you any problems unless you had a buncha mods. The powertrain warranty is good until 60,000 miles.

TC -- Touring Coupe

I authorized the mechanic to take it home so they could simulate the conditions at a high rpm

I was advised this morning that NISSAN will be repalcing the trans, clutch pedal assembly, etc. and they are giving me a rental !!!!!!!!!!

I'll add my name to the list of 350Z Trans repalcements
