Default Rear Parking sensor

Can anyone advise or suggest a cure for this. I bought the Nissan parking sensor with my 2004 Z coupe, but find that it has a fairly weak audible alarm which gets drowned out by the louder reversing audible warning. I asked my Nissan delaer if they could disable the reversing audible warning so that I could properly hear the other one, but they tell me it cant be done.

Since this accessory cost around $1000 Australian dollars, and I was not told that a conflict of the 2 audible warnings would occur I am rather disappointed I chose this feature.

Does anyone have any experience with this, or know if the reversing sound can actually be disabled without causing other problems. ?

The logical fix would be to find the "speaker" used for the factory alarm and disconnect it. I doubt if it's connected to any "service" warning so it shouldn't have any affect to the car.

Actually when I suggested to the dealer they might disconnect the speaker, they said that the disconnection would register a system error which may result in other problems. What you suggest sounds logical to me, but before going ahead I'll try to get some official advice from Nissan-thanks
