Default Body panels not matching. Anyone else?

Some of my body panels don't match flush on my '03 z which I bought new. (Some gaps are a little bigger than others etc) The hood is a little misaligned, hatch could be re-adjusted a little better etc. Anyone else experience similar things? I'm a real **** retentive guy so I notice all this stuff.

I'm sure the car wasnt hit. As I had my bodyshop (very good bodyshop) look at it twice. I think this is just a problem with Nissan Quality control not doing their job on the '03s.

my rear bumper could have been slightly better fitting on my TRACK. The rear bumper slightly exposes one of the reverse lights more than the other. It's very hard to notice unless you really look for it. No Biggie but yeah you would expect a perfect fit on everything. oh well...

Yeah I have the same problem too. My front bumper seems a little bit off. But after a while, you don't even notice it. Enjoy the car and don't sweat the small stuff.

I believe the differance in color has to do with body material.

My friend just got his NISMO replica painted at a local Nissan dealership and the color looks slightly off, but they used the factory paint.

I had a problem with the passenger sill panel not fitting flush with the car. The corner stuck out and was easily visible. It took four dealer trips over eight months to finally get it fixed.

First attempt: Double sided tape of some kind. Looked good when I picked it up, but popped back out by morning.

Second attempt: Replaced panel. After waiting months for the part to come in, this also didn't work. The panel still stuck out.

Third attempt: Reworked the panel to try to make it flush. No luck their either. Close, but not good enough. After this attempt I was given two options. Live with it or have the frame cut to allow the panel to fit better. I thought about it and wrote my service manager a letter. I didn't like the frame cutting idea, but I hated the way the panel looked. The service manager got a Nissan Engineer involved (supposedly) and told me no frame cutting was involved.

Fourth attempt: Per the service manager and Nissan Engineer, a weld was ground down where the panel met the frame thus allowing the panel to fit better. Not sure why this wasn't noticed eight months ago, but it is fixed.
