Default car and driver ....backfires 350z

man what some said about the 350z in the backfire section. These people are high or somthing. 0-60 in 7 seconds. It is porky, wrx is better, 350 should be faster. unlike the 240z the 350 isnt a breath of fresh air? I know these are letters from readers but why did c/d decide to only print these. ?
Im sure they got a lot more loving this car.

Because C/D are a bunch of pansies who don't know how to really drive, so when they can't make a car perform like it should, they print the few complaint letters they get about the car instead of all the raves so they don't look like idiots.

Just my humble opinion.

The tested a track model dead-on. It ran the quarter in 14.1 I think and 0-60 in 5.4.

If I recall, there article was generally extremely positive about the Z. My guess is they are printing these in order to generate controversy and give people something to talk about. I mean, every *sane* person knows the Z kicks butt, so they need to do something to stir up some fun an get the people arguing

Default pisses me off BIG TIME

It really gets me mad. I am for sure cancelling my order. What gets me really mad is that even after one of the readers complained it weighs to much, C and D DIDN'T even acknowledge they misreported the weight of the car!

See my post on Z car forum:

http://www.zcar.com/forums/read.php?f=5&i=67420&t=67420

titled: Car and Driver = crap.

Just got this month's C&D, and can't believe the letters to the editor. Using a tactic like that is hitting below the belt, as they reserve the right to publish only the letters they want. (Does anyone really think the negative letters outpaced the postive letters???)

C&D has their head firmly up their ***. Yet in all of this, it gives me reason to pause and remember how grateful I am that I don't need their help to make an educated decision on which car to buy.

Actually, now that I think about it... the original article was quite positive. Maybe it's just a shame that C&D has legions of jerk-off readers who have Z envy...

I agree completely with the sentiment that the Z should be faster. After putting 20-30 miles on a friend's 350, I have no intention of buying one until I hear the a new version with 50-100 extra horses is out.

Sorry. It's a nice car and all... but it's no successor to the 300ZXTT.

It's not supposed to be a 300ZXTT. It's modeled after the original 240Z, not the techno-crazed 300 that no one could afford. The 350Z costs substantially less than the 300ZXTT at a time when money is worth substantially less than it was when the 300ZXTT was being sold. The numbers show that you don't need turbocharging to be quick. Besides, I hate turbos, very unpredictable.

Find a car on the market for 30K that can compete with the 350's looks, performance, and mechanical quality... Let me know what you find. And don't say S2K. I've driven one, they feel like Preludes with 2500 extra rev's but less torque.

I agree. Nothing else in the 30k range can compete with the 350Z.

Did someone say... 2003 Mustang Cobra?

I wouldn't give those C&D letters a second thought. It's obvious they've never had any sort of exposure w/ the 350 in person.

Overall, does the Cobra really have great performance qualities? I know it has a monster motor. But does it handle and brake well? Also, how much does it weigh? I'm not a Ford guy.

360R Mustang. 360 HP, 375 torque, 0-60 in 4.3, 60 -0 109 ft. Big numbers but styling is old and quality is very questionable.

I had thought about buying the 03 Cobra. But wanted something that should be more reliable. I have never owned a new Ford (but I did have a Model T that was reliable...heck there was nothing to it) so do not know how it will do in the long run, but I know that Nissans are very good. Also I sold a Z to buy this Z....got to love them Z's

Looks and quality is subjective. However, I think the 350 is more refined than the Cobra.

Performance-wise, the Cobra has the numbers and potential on paper, but I'm not going to say anything until I see a Cobra and a 350 (preferably mine) on a roadcourse.
