Both.

Camero did use a "z" in naming.

BMW also uses "Z".

Bunch of copycats!!

It's Nissan's (actually Datsun's). No one else's. Anyone who tells you otherwise doesnt know their a$$ from a hole in the ground. The datsun Z was out in the states in what? 1969? It was known as the "z car" back then. They didnt call camaro z28's "z's" back in the 60s.

It gets on my last nerve when I hear CAMARO owners call their z28, a "z." It's mostly been the 3rd and 4th generation Z28 cars, that were tagged with the nickname by their lost owners. (mostly guys on the internet started doing it) Oh by the way, Z06 owners have started doing it too.

Sorry, but the Z28 was out before the 240Z, to me, a Z will always be a datsun/nissan, but I'm sure to camaro enthusiasts its a whole nother story. I don't remember if they were calling the z28 'z' for short in 1967, though, I was only 2.

1967 RPO Z28 - Special Performance Package includes 302-cid V8 engine, closed positive ventilation, dual exhaust with deep tone mufflers, special front and rear suspension, heavy-duty radiator and temperature controlled fan, quick ratio steering, 15x6 wheels, 7.35x15 nylon red stripe tires, 3.73:1 ratio axle and special paint stripes on hood and rear deck (requires 4-speed close ratio transmission, power brakes, front disc brakes or heavy-duty front disc brakes with metallic rear brakes; posi-traction recommended; Sport Coupe V8 only).

Where did I say the z was out before the z28? No I didnt say that thank you. I said the Z car was out in '69 and was known as the Z car back then. I also said they didnt call the Camaro Z28s "z's" back in the 60s.

I have also heard Z28 owners call them that, and Z71 owners, and even some atv z400's and such. There's only one "Z" to me though and that's the 350Z.
