Default Trade in?

I am considering possibly trading in my 2003 accord v6 w/ navi for a Z but I'm wondering how bad I'm gonna get raped at the dealership. I have had my car for exactly a year now and understand that I am upside down. Blue Book lists the trade in value at 18-19,000 depending on whether the condition is good or excellent. I got the car in a 48 mo lease for $390 a month. So if I did my math correct I think I am only 2-3 thousand upside down max. I want to get a enthusiast 5at w/leather 350z but I'm wondering how much the payment is going to go up. Do you guys think I can get it for under five hundred a month in another 48 mo. lease ? I'm new to the whole trading in thing so any advice would be helpful. Oh, and I'm getting an automatic beacuse for those of us who commute on the 405 in so cali in traffic it is a nightmare. Thank you in advance to whoever replies.

ps: I have excellent credit so that shouldn't be a factor.

accord coupe is pretty nice. i'd stick with that at least until the tire feathering is clearly resolved. also, there are rumors the 2005 will have around a 15hp bump. already confirmed for the g35 6MT coupe.

I didn't know that Enthusiast has the option for leather seats... as far as I know the only with leather seats is the Touring model...
I'm not sure on your question about the payments, but I would go check out a Nissan dealer, tell him/her your story and let them find out for you...

ditto on the leather seats - only in Touring models.
most likely you will get raped by the dealership on a trade...
if you can sell your Accord on the street.. if not , visit few dealerships and see what they can offer you..
good luck

Do we know for sure if the 2005 z is going to get the 15hp bump as well? If so I might wait.

Somehow this thread got hijacked. The original question had to do with should the questioner trade-in or not. I will try to get it back on subject.

If you fear being"raped" by a the dealer when you trade-in your car then don't trade it in! There is no law that says you have to and certainly no one is putting a gun to your head. Take the time and sell the car yourself to a private party. That way you won't have to worry about being "raped" and when you go in to negotiate the purchase of your Z you will be in a better bargaining position.

Are we back on subject now?

From what I read, the poster said he leased the car, and is looking to lease the Z. Sounds to me like he's gonna get bent over.

I didn't think you could trade in a leased car. You still owe the remaining (36) lease payments as far as I can tell. If you do turn a leased vehicle in early then they end up adding your remaining payments to the new car payments which would mean a very expensive Z. Correct me if I'm wrong...

You're right, he did say he leased the car. Rereading is a good thing. This questioner's problem is another good example though why leasing isn't always a good way to go. If for some reason you have to get out of it it can be difficult and costly. My experience has shown that 36 or worse 48 mo of lease is crazy because situations change in one's life too quickly, especially when your young. Maybe if you are a senior citizen hen it would be a different matter.

Youre upside down in a 48/MO lease that you want out of. I hope you got deep pockets.
