Angry Wife drove z through 2 feet off H2O

Ouch!!!!!My wife drove my car through deep water yesterday after the monsoon we had in Houston. After it stalled some nice guys pushed her through and then she tried starting it. She described it turning over and then "locking up". Anybody had or heard of anybody having a similar experience with the VQ35. I figure the engine is probably toast.

yeah the air intake is less than 2 feet off the ground so it was sucking water in for sure...hydro lock=engine death.

maybe on your next z you should get an intake snorkle

The Z is not an amphibious vehicle, in case you weren't sure.

Life is not over yet. This happend to me in my 300zx TT w/ HKS hypercharger and my car lived! Just think jetski, remove the plugs and turn the engine over to kick all the water out of the cylinders, disconnect the intake hose and make sure to get all water out of the intake, or as much as you can. It most cases your engine will be ok as long as she wasnt reving hard when it stalled.

Worse case scenario yes, RIP, but you may just be able to save lots of $$$.

My zx actaully felt like it ran better after that. HA. I put another 50k miles on my car after this happend with out any problems, funny thing is hearing those turbos flutter with water in the exhaust. scary thought but I was very surprised that nothing happend to the engine.

it might have not been so bad, if it was revving somewhat high youd be looking at maybe a bent rod, or a bend connecting rod. but trying to start it again didnt help...

good luck, but your probably looking at quite a few internal replacements. this falls under comprehensive I think? I know the nissan warrenty specificly states they dont cover hydrolock.

yep. there needs to be remedial training to insure your wf understands that oxygen flow is severely restricted by submergance in water. this call for....

repeated BJ's preferably in bathtubs, showers, and swimming pools (for educational value).

nothing else can save your marriage.

My God, yet another thread of some one having there wife/girlfriend mess up their ride.
When will you guys learn? :-)
My girlfriend has never driven my car, and she never will. She has never even asked. Even though I have let my buddies drive it.
Like I said before; If I had a dime for ever guy I knew that has had their wife/girlfriend mess up there car, I`d be a millionaire.

My wife have never even been in my car yet. I bought the car on March 4th. She has her car and I have my Z and Eclipse.
