It only had 5K miles on it, RIP
I don't know how that happened. We drove to dinner, Sacramento to Folsom on Highway 50. Then we drove home on surface streets. We did not go to any new home construction areas.
Yeah, it was a big nail.
When I woke up in the morning I saw the tire was low from my front window and thought somebody had slashed my tire. It looked like a big "slash" or gouge in the tire. Once I went outside I realized it was the shadow the nail was casting on the tire.

Yep, 'bout a 16 penny by the look of 'er. Rough Carpenter's heavy-duty nail of choice. My condolences... Know the dealer told me there's a serious back-log on getting Potenza's too. Good luck!
Sorry to see man, but I thought I was going to see some REALLY heartbreaking photos in here....

In hindsight, glad that it was ONLY the tire and not the car itself

The Bridgstone warehouse here in Sacramento had them in stock. Took the wheel in on Saturday to a local tire shop and they said they would of been able to replace it then but the warehouse was closed for inventory. They received it Monday morning and put it on in about 15 mintues. They did not scratch my rim, I asked if they would be careful.

A similar thing happened to me, except the debris I picked up was dead in the middle of the tread. Problem was, the debris was so big that it actually came out of the tire while driving and left a huge hole in the tire that could not be patched. To make matters worse, I'm going on trip #5 to the dealership after having them replace the tire to try and get them to fix the damage they did to the wheel and the back bumper...They are now respraying the whole back of the car to try and get it right and have finally (after 4 attempts) decided to just replace the wheel.
