Axle and CV joints
Has anyone experienced this- I was Driving Kinda fast and my car is pretty Low, went over a man hole cover and it hit the bottom of my car (abnormally high man hole cover) , Ever since my car has made a clicking noise getting off of frist and second gear and in reverse. Took it to the dealer and they said I need a whole new axle and CV joints in the rear. They also said it was a very common problem with people that track there car. Has this happend to anyone else out there.
BTW : It is covered under warr. Just such a pain to leave my car there for a day

Mine is at the dealer right now for the same problem. I forget exactly what they said they were replacing... but there is a TSB for it:

IF YOU CONFIRM: A "clicking" noise is coming from the left and/or right rear axle when accelerating from a stop. ACTION: 1. Determine if the noise is coming from one side or both sides. 2. Replace the Outer Axle Joint(s) and the Wheel Bearing(s). · If the noise is coming from only one side, replace parts on only one side. · If the noise is coming from both sides, replace parts on both sides. · Refer to section RAX in the Service Manual (ESM) for replacement instructions. See this bulletin for further detail.

yeah, the only problem is the damn clicking
when i had mine looked at, they had to order parts... when i took my car back in the meantime... the sound was even worse. My car sounded like an '83 Ranger in need of a new leaf!

thanks for the quick response. My clicking is comeingfrom the passenger rear and they told me to bring the car next tuesday to get my parts replaced. They told me it was perfectly fine for me to continue to drive without a problem.
