Default perfect starting point (mph/gear) for highway runs in the Z...?

let's say your were gonna do a highway run w/ another car and it was a pretty close matchup... what would be the best speed/gear to start in? my guess is around 40mph. in 3rd... does this sound about right?

you can do 2nd gear at 40mph... it will pick up faster. 2nd gear tops at around 60-65mph. 1st gear tops out at around 35mph and you can't really go back to first anyways

so if i were to start off at around 40 2nd would be better then 3rd? i know 2nd would be faster, but then i have to shift so quickly... what would be the be the best mph/gear combo to start off w/ in a Z on a highway run? does not necessarily have to be 40 mph. but something realistic

I would do a 60-65mph roll starting from 3rd. That way you start off in the sweet spot of 3rd gear. 40mph is not ideal because you're almost to the top of second and you will have to shift right after you start. If you start in 3rd from 40mph you won't exactly bog but you won't accelerate as fast as you can.

Without a reflash, Second gear tops out at 62 MPH.

If you started from 40, you should be in second, and be ready to shift quickly.

If you want to start in third... about 65 MPH and you should be just getting into the sweet spot on the torque curve.

Best bet yet... Do it on the track and keep it SAFE...
