Default Popcharger installation question

Guys,

I just installed the popcharger. I used some washers as stated in other forums to make the fit more "perfect". Anyways, on the right side, the popcharger (rubber of filter) still lean on a brown screw like object. Is that ok. Is that putting too much weight on it.

Actually this is my second time around with the installation with the popcharger, but I forgot-hehe.

Thanks,
Tony

I don't think you could put too much weight on a bolt. the Pop charger doens't way more than a few ounces.

ok, now i know where you are talking about.

mine does not rub at all. not sure if it is bad or not, but mine was pressing against the a/c line before, so i installed a spacer. now it is fine. i am sure there is a way to do it without the spacer, but this way works for me.

We're talking about a little piece of FLEXIBLE rubber "pushing" on a steel bolt, which is connected in some way to another piece of METAL in the car.

This reminds me of teh guy who was afraid to drive his car in the rain. I'm sure you'll be ok.

it makes lots of noise and adds a little bit of hp up top. For 125$ i think its worth it, i installed mine 3 days ago.

Cedusett... i remember that post too! So funny..

But I think he might be concerned with vibration/rubbing of the popcharger against the bolt causing engine bey noise??

ragtopz,

Without the spacer (washer), it sits right on top of the ac line. I added some washers and now it barely rubs.

I am just paranoid. Why, I have too much free time now-hehe.

Thanks all.

It's an air filter that replaces the stock air filter and air box. The filter element uses oiled cotton mesh cloth instead of paper, and is a little bit less restrictive than a paper filter. Removing the air box makes it a *lot* noisier than stock. So, as people have said, it is a noisemaker which may give you a slight power gain at redline.

Now there are a couple of downsides to this compared to retaining the stock system. If the oil you use on the cotton cloth gets on your MAF, it will contaminate the sensor, your engine will run poorly, and you'll be out $400 for a new MAF.

The other downside isn't quite so drastic. Unlike the stock air box, which draws air from in front of the radiator, the Popcharger draws its air from the engine compartment. That air is hotter, which means it is less dense, which means your engine won't run as efficiently. So you may suffer some loss of MPG.

sitting on top the a/c line should be fine. my rubber was pressing so hard into the line, that it was molding to the shape of the a/c line. i figured that one day my a/c line may break. that is why i fixed mine.
take care, man.
