Why is clearing your turn signals considered cool?
IMO...it's how they make the tailights....for some reason they come of being much more tacky. maybe design flaw? and too many tacky looking ones out there putting the rest of the tail light designs in a negative category(perspective). Similar to body kits
....sometimes you think to yourself."why oh why?"

because clear taillights looks tacky. clear front lights looks normal. And blue bulbs (hyperwhite) so that it reflects blue when you are looking at it but when it turns on it's bright white-ish, is tacky as hell. As well as those HID-wannabe halogens: Tacky.

Its sad that no one actually knows the origin of this phenomena.
At first, the clear corners (healdamp turn signals) were a result of European design influence. In Europe, the lenses are not required a certain amount of surface area to be amber and reflective like in the US, so they left them clear. It turned out this looks cool as well.
The taillights came from Japanese influence, first seen on the Toyota Altezza (or Lexus IS300 as is known to the states).
And ever since this production car had them, its been downhill from there. You will see these products made for domestic cars in stock trim now! Its a gross example of monkey see, monkey do.

clear corners/signals look much more cleaner IMO. I cleared mines on the maxima. as for tail lights... um.. thats a diff story. And with domestics clearing their tail lights.... um... whatever floats their boat i guess. ricers try to sound like muscle cars so i guess its an even trade off

personally, i think that having clear turn signals really cleans up the car. it makes the front look simpler. not as busy. i love when they use amber LED's b/c when off, the signals blend in very nicely and when on, it is a very nice bright true amber color.
as far as taillights go...
