i was slowing to a stop at a light and came to a jerky stop in first, i thought i stalled so i was trying to start the car back up but it wasn't (the car was still running the whole time)... i tried like 2 more times before i realized the car was still running i hope i didn't mess anything up... is this bad? should i check anything?

 

Haaa...Did the sound of the grinding starter motor not clue you in the first time??? You know that guage in the middle with all the numbers on it, when that's not at zero, it means the engine is running!!!

You should be fine. My wife used to do that all the time. If it still starts normally, then all of the teeth on the starter gear and the flywheel are still in tact, no harm done, but I wouldn't make a habit of it.

 

Its funny that you bring this up cause my brother did the same thing and I was sitting right next to him. Notice that when you try to start the car when its already on, it does not make any grinding sounds (hence thats why you tried it again, just like my brother). I dont know for sure but it seems like theres a safe guard put in place to prevent grinding the gears. If so, thats pretty damn smart and sweet.

 

Did the check eng light come on? Is it still on?I believe The Z went into "Failsafe Mode". After a new ECM, Throttle body, and wiring harnesses. They finally found a loose Oxygen Sensor switch. Good as New. GL2U
