Default Nismo CAI vs K&N

I am thinking about changing out my Nismo CAI for a K&N Typhoon. Has anyone done this. My car came with the Nismo from the dealer. Will I need any additional parts since I don't have the original air filter box?

question 1-yes
question 2-no
i wouldnt recommend doing this, for the cost of the k/n your not gonna get any noticable gains out of it compared to the the nismo intake.

Plus, unless you fab some sheetmetal, the filter box is open inside the hood, you'll get higher intake temps vs the nismo, pipe that feeds the box is only 2.5" as well. And it's metal filter box is a tremendious heat soak. But is does not suffer brake dust contamination like most CAI's do. So I agree, stick with what you have. I fixed what was wrong with mine, but it was a lot of work.
