By submitting a picture(s) you are agreeing to let me use them free of cost
So we send the picture to you, and you sell the decks for $4-5 each and won't even slide the person who submitted the picture a few decks or compensate them in any way? I'd gladly offer a picture but it comes across as if you'd be doing me a favor if I did. I mean, do we have to print 10,000 copies of "our card" and mail them to you if we "win" or will you be taking care of that?

I'll be doing having the cards made. You can submit your picture by just e-mailing it to me and if you win then it gets in the deck. If you decide to buy a deck then thats your choice.

That is the deadline.

It'll probably take me a week to do the judging and layouts of the cards (perhaps 2 weeks).

Then it takes 3 weeks to make them and another week or two to get them shipped to me.

Then I have to go through and start shipping them out.

I will start accepting payment either after the deadline or after I receive the cards.

I'd like to get them to some of the people by Christmas but I MAKE NO GUARANTEES on that one. It'll be cutting it to close.

like it was said earlier, you should compensate the people whose cars appear in your deck with a free deck of cards.

I got very nice cards with my Z when I bought it...

All the pre-production pics and all.

If it was cost effective to give out free decks I might think about it but I'm trying to make these as cheap as possible for everyone. I'd think making the cut would be satisfaction enough

Oh and that sample picture is of a MINT 88 shiro sport (limited edition). Very nice car but then again its a matter of opinion

Or perhaps you just meant the card layout - in that case I have no defense except please give me some suggestions then

I agree with what others have said... if you'd be willing to give a free deck or two to those who contribute pictures, I'd be in.

At most, you have 52 different cars... out of those maybe not everyone would want a deck of the cards. So, at most you give out 52 decks... probably less.

I'm sure you're producing enough of these to make some decent money on them (probably several hundred or even a couple thousand decks). Give out 52 and bump the price up $.25 a deck to compensate. If someone will spend $5 on a deck of Z cards, then they will surely spend $5.25.

Based on what I know of business (my degree and how I earn my living), with the 5% increase in price ($5 to $5.25), you would need to sell approximately 600 decks to compensate for the 52 you would be giving away.

Although, based on your responses so far, I'm guessing you're not going to budge on that point. Do contributors get to pick the card their car goes on? For example, if I were to submit a pic, could I request for it to be put on a Joker, or the 10 of diamonds, or whatever?

It doesn't really sound to me like you're offering the contributors much for their effort or their media.

I meant the card layout, it looks ghetto. See if they can make the numbers look cleaner without the faded edges. It would also look a lot better if you could get them to put the Z emblem on the cards like a 3 of clubs, 3 Z emblems. Another suggestion would be to make all number cards with redline or superblack and then make the face cards with DB, LMS, CS, BY, SS. And if you really wanted, make the joker cards with custom colored Zs. Damn homie, put some thought into it.

"At most, you have 52 different cars" - 54 actually with two jokers in each deck

Not only would I have to compensate for the decks themselves but I'd have to compensate for packaging and shipping.

Plus, unless I do preorders (yet to be determined) and got enough payments from other decks to cover shipping and packaging costs then I'd have to come up with even more money to cover this. So essentially it'd be more money out of my pocket to start this.

I'm not trying to be a dick about this but I just think it'd be a privelage to get in the deck. Perhaps a discount of $0.50 for one deck would be justified but you guys are asking for entire decks for free.

"If your car is in the deck then your car consists of 1 / 54th of the deck which is approximately %0.02. Take that out of the $5 is about 10 cents. Although I understand your car will be in all the decks so I think 50 cents off a deck for yourself would be justified and wouldn't kill me either.

Let me know what you think and if not - don't submit.

Now --- Topic 2

"Do contributors get to pick the card their car goes on?"

I had thought about letting everyone pick their cards but if things go how I'd like I plan on having two cars from every year starting at the "2" cards working up to the Jokers. So 1970 and 1971 would end up on the "2" cards and 350Zs would end up on Jokers and everything in between would be in between in order.

However I realize this has its down falls. I could have 2 really nice 350Z submissions and one really crappy 1984 submission but would let hte 1984 in becuase I'd need that year. Not to mention I might not even get enough submissions per year.

As the deadline comes closer I will decide just what I will do. However, letting people pick will probably be my second choice. I just hope there isn't arguing over it.

Now ---- Topic 3

As for all the ideas for card design. I'm trying to keep the cards simple because I actually plan on playing with them and I don't want to have to glance at my cards twice because some weird design makes them hard to get an easy glance at them. I'm also not sure what you meant by the colors. Here is a sample without faded edges. I originally made it but everyone seemed to like the faded one better....
