Tire Feathering Class-action Lawsuit
I just had my car in for normal service...had about 14,000 miles on it. Service mgr called and told me they were ordering me new tires because of tire feathering. I hadn't noticed anything prior to that....and even after that I looked and had a hard time seeing it. There was only wear on the very insides of the tires. Anyway, if you have 14,000 miles and are counting your blessings cause you don't have the problem....have it checked anyway!!
And it's DAMN nice to have a new set of tires after 14k miles!

Ride and handling is excellent. They're 245/40/18 which is the same diameter but wider than the stock 225/45/18. I have about 9000 miles on them including one track event. They're near the wear-bar and wearing evenly. They were around $150 from Tirerack.com.

Good luck getting to choose the brand on the tsb, though. It may be different now or at your dealer, but when Nissan replaced my tires they would only put on RE040s.

[B]Yeah, they'll be fine. As long as their performance characteristics aren't radically different, I think tire brands are pretty much interchangable. It's not really that Kumhos are magic bullets, it's just that they aren't RE040s.
The Kumhos aren't re40s, but neither are michelin pilots, which i read have also been issued as replacement tires and have also developed the tire roar.

I had my first set of tires replaced at 14k miles. Since tehn I'm up to 22K and the feathering is back. Replacing the tires might help, but the alignment is still screwed up, so regardless of what kind of rubber I have on there, it's still going to wear unevenly, and I'm still going to have to buy new tires more often than I should have.
I already paid enough for this car, and if Nissan thinks they can just assume I'll roll over and take it on this align ment issue, they are mistaken.
