Anybody experieince this problem with the latch. It takes two presses of the button on the transmitter or the rubber button on the latch itself to open the hatch. The first press releases the hatch half way but requires another press to open. Seems like a defect to me??

 

There is a TSB out for this and has to do with the black plastic covered spring units on the sides of the hatch. If you don't want to take the car in to have the springs replaced with higher tension or slightly longer springs, There is a do it yourself fix that involves taking the springs apart and inserting a pair of pennies into each spring housing and then re-installing. The effect of this is that it gives the spring greater compression, thus it helps to push the hatch up that little extra to clear the latch.
