Is this asking too much?
First off, I'm new here and have learned A LOT from you guys. Great forum and some very informed members here!
I am planning on getting a Z first of next year and am skeptical about the front-end alignment issues (tire feathering). If I go to the dealership with 8-10K for a down payment, would asking them to realign the front end and providing the specs be asking too much?
This way I would know exactly what the car started out with and I would have a record if issues came up 5k miles later

You're not out of line with this at all. You have a reasonable concern, and if they stand behind their product, they should be willing to spend an hour or two of an alignment techs time to close the deal with you. It's not a bad idea, and to sell a 30+K car, they'll do it.
