Default Launches...VDC on/off, sent aging MustangGT home crying

Long subject line, I know, sorry about that.
So I smoked a GT mustang today, an older one, probably early/mid 90's model... wasn't even close. Only thing noteworthy about it was that the guy wasn't mulletized, he had more of a "horseshack" from welcome back kotter thing going on - white boy mini-fro, if you can dig it?
Scary.
So anyway, my questions/observations about launching - with VDC on, I don't get the spin and hop that I got today launching with it off in this little stupid street race - so someone explain to me again why I need to turn it off to get the best launch? It steals power to KEEP the wheels from spinning, is that correct?
It didn't seem any faster with it off, I launched at around 3k I think and seemed like I just spun wheels forever... So what RPMs gives the best launch with the VDC off? Just looking for everybody's .02 on this.
Spanks.

Try it at the track and you'll see that with the VDC on you'll be .3 to .5 sec off your 1/4 mile time.

I find that 2000 RPM with slipping of the clutch gives a good compromise of wheel spin and fairly quick take off....with the VDC off that is.

Well, I've been told several times that a tire gives the most grip when just barely slipping. Therefore, you best launch is one that gives you a slight hint of wheelspin.

I never really understood why people say this though, because the coefficient of dynamic friction is ALWAYS less than for static friction....

Because with a little bit of tire slip you don't bog the engine. Technically from a standstill with 100% locked up powertrain and tires, your engine prefers to be @ 0 rpm. If you can launch at 2000 rpm, building power, you'll get a faster acceleration run than if you leave the line with biting tires @ 6-800 rpm.
