350Z Production months...

Hey my 350Z has a build date of October, thats all they said at my dealer and NNA. But when I called NNA awhile back I asked them is that the beginning or the end of the month and how long does it take? Well the guy said "When they say Oct. build, that means they usually start building it on the very last day of that month"
Does anyone here know if that is true, or was that guy just blowing smoke up my *** because he doesnt know what is going on?

Hell no, I live in Fairfax county and the car dealers around this area are out of there damn minds. Ive heard that the Nissan dealership around this area are charging from $6-10 thousands dollars above MSRP. I pre-ordered mine from a dealership down in Harrisonburg, by JMU. They are giving mine at $1000 above MSRP, I can live with that. Why do you ask? Where did you get yours from?

I also ordered mine from Brown's. Mike told me my car was slated to arrive this coming Saturday, though we'll see about that. I am paying MSRP. After watching the sales team deliver these cars at Brown's, I have to say they seem to be doing a good job of taking care of the customer now (whereas there seemed to be some problems back when I preordered in March).
stemenc,
I was told this morning that our Zs had been loaded onto the carrier at Newport News and would be delivered "later in the week" to Brown's. I am not sure how long it takes to get from Newport News to Arlington, but I hope our Zs are there before Saturday. (I want the whole weekend to drive it!)
There are three Zs on the carrier for delivery - mine, yours, and one for the sales manager, Bill.
You're right, they seem to be making some improvements over at Brown's. I was a little worried when I ordered back in April, but things seem to be better now.

wow, how did you get that info? i haven't been able to pry any details from Brown's. I got all my info from NNA (package number, VIN, estimated delivery date, port, etc.). NNA told me my car left Japan on Oct. 5th, and would arrive in Norfolk on the 28th. It would spend 2 days in customs, and then get the port installations done, which could take up to a week. Then it would be shipped. That makes me think Mike's prediction of my car arriving by this weekend is a bit optimistic. I was figuring more along the lines of next weekend, but if we get our cars this week, that would be a pleasant surprise.
What trim did you order?

stemenc,
Is your Z listed in the dealer inventory on the NNA website yet? The three Z's that are listed there are the ones that are on the carrier headed for Brown's right now. I don't have any special inside info about your Z in particular, I just assumed yours was one of the Zs listed since you said you were told you'd be getting it this week.
I have been getting all my info from NNA. In general, Brown's seems to be the last to know about anything. Before I called them yesterday after I talked to NNA, they didn't have a clue that my car was coming in this week.
Silverstone Track w/all options.

My car's VIN hasn't been posted on the site yet. From what I have heard, the VIN won't be posted on the site until it has been taken at the port. Perhaps this information capture happens when installations occur or when the car is loaded on the truck - I have no idea, though I know some people received their cars, yet their VIN never posted on the site.
I'd love to see your SS Track model when it gets in. I ordered a CS Track model and I have yet to see any tracks in person. I'm sure it looks very nice. The one SS touring model I have seen looked fantastic. I almost wished I could have changed my color. Are you going to mount the license plate on the bumper or beneath it on the grill. I have seen the grill mount and I thought it looked cleaner.
Do you know when your car arrived at Newport News?

The VIN is posted on the NNA site when the car is given to the carrier for delivery to the dealership. The ship carrying my Z came into Newport News on 10/20. The Z was there for roughly 7 days before it was given to the carrier for delivery. I'll let you know how many days it takes to get to Brown's.
I too have not seen a Track model in person. I have seen a blue enthusiast with 17" wheels on it. The 17s looked huge, so I can only imagine how good the 18" Rays will look.
I'll let you know when it comes in and, if you want, you can go out to Brown's and check it out.
Brown's has only taken delivery of one Z thus far, so they are probably getting a lot of them in over the next few weeks.

I was at Brown's this past weekend, talking with a guy who was receiving the CS enthusiasts that is still posted on the inventory list. He had the 17s - you're right, they did like pretty large.
The car just looks so much nicer in person - pictures really don't do it justice. The best part was when he finally drove her off the lot. I really like the sound of the exhaust note.
So, if your car hit the docks on the 20th, and you are receiving her towards the end of this week, mine should be one week later, considering my car docked one week after yours. Pretty exciting. I can't believe it's almost time. Unfortunately, I need to hurry up and sell my current Z32. I have been so reluctant to do so...

One thing I forgot to mention in my previous post -- I did tell them NOT to drill the front bumper for the license plate. I'll take my chances on getting a ticket until I mount it a different way. I also told them not to wax/buff the car (I am using Zaino), not to adhere any dealer badging or stickers, not to let anyone else drive it (except service manager responsible for PDI), not to use it as a show car, and also that I want the original window sticker intact. Brown's assured me that all my requests would be adhered to.
Yes, I did. ...and it's AWESOME!! Brown's did an excellent job. When I got there, they had it all roped off in the service bay so no one could touch it. There was only 6 miles on it. They treated me very well and the delivery process went flawlessly. The Z is great. I am very happy with it.
Any word on when yours will be coming in? Let me know when you get it. We'll have to meet up somewhere.

Well, I stopped by on Saturday - the day the car was suppose to arrive, or at least so said the sales rep sheet, but no dice. I was expecting as much. One of the sales managers looked at a delivery schedule print out. The printout said December, but I think everyone who had a September build month is told their car will be delivered between October and December. I think his print out estimate is conservative, which is smart on their part. They can contact the port and find out what a more accurate status is, but at this point I just want them to deliver the car safely, with no bugs.
Anyway, glad to hear you received your ride! We'll definitely have to get a ride set up before the bad weather hits.
