Default 4.0l Z

I just read an article on the new pathfinder. Apparently Nissan stroked the VQ35DE to make a VQ40DE. In the pathfinder it makes 270 BHP but I'm guessing they could change cams and ECU to make more. I wonder if they have any plans to use that version in the Z. I'd like to see the stock Z have some more nads.

Your crazy, havent you heard of stroker motors? The LT1's have there 350's stroked to a 383, the ZO6 LS6 350 storked to a 383.

I have heard through my Z club that yes there will be a 400Z. I knew about the aniversery Z almost a year ago.

That's what I was thinking....what's the stroke on a 383 3.75,4in,4.25in-I totally forget?

And the stroke on a 350Z is 3.2 compared to the stroke on a 400Z, which would be 3.66in. It could be done.

It would be pretty easy to swap the Crank to our block . You'd have to use the rods and pistons from the 4.0l due to the change in wrist pin height.

Of course you'd really want a set of forged pistions and rods. Most companys will make a set if you send them an example. It won't cost any more than an off the shelf set, just take longer to get them. In a year or two those cranks will be fairly easy and cheap to find.

If I was going to build the bottom end I'd do it that way. The only extra cost would be the crank it self.

The 4.0L block in the Pathfinder is considerably taller than the 3.5L block. That's not including the oil pan either.. I highly doubt it would fit.

What is the height vs the 3.5L?
