Time to Get Busy!

Well, almost 2 of everything. I only got one of the non-clear coat polish (the blue one) since the Stealth isn't clear coated. I was surprised how small each bottle is. They better be telling the truth when they say you don't use a lot cause for the price of all this stuff, it better last a LONG time!

Bonz, three tips for you (not sure if you've used it before):
1. Follow the directions TO THE LETTER. Everyone I've ever talked to who wasn't satisfied with Zaino said "Well, I did skip one step for blah blah reasons...". For example, washing your car with something like Dawn first to get all the previous junk off it is very important. You dont want any other waxes underneath it.
2. Take Sal's advice and go get some nice high quality 100% cotton USA made towels, cut the edges off, and use those for drying and taking the polish off.
No really. Go get the towels! Also, wash the towels first to get any residue off them. Many towels are treated with some chemicals to keep them looking bright in stores.
3. When you think the polish is ready to come off, wait another hour. I got over-anxious the first time I did it and was a little to fast in going for it.
Also you might want to do a search for "zaino tips" on audiworld.com's forums, the TT forum in particular, and find the directions that one of the guys there wrote up. They're very good and easy to follow.
If you cant find them let me know and I will dig them up.

Ditto what Lowfuel said.
The other suggestion is don't use too much!!! I've not used it myself (why bother - I drive a beat up '86 blazer) but everyone (yes EVERYONE) I've heard has said they used too much the first time. Evidently a dime sized drop on a cloth goes a long way - like a quarter panel.
Another good site for info is at Miataforum.com, under the care care section. Do a search on Zaino - you'll get a lot of hits. Here's a good one:

dr great luck to you,
i am a pro detailer and have work with everything imaginable, for a car thats new , or a couple years old the most , zaino is absolutly incredible with out a doubt , when you dealing with an oxidized finish or heavily swirl marked zaino isnt strong enough, but on a new or like new finish the stuff is amazing ,great shine long lasting, the shine may not be as deep as one of zymols concourse waxes but i can tell you from experience the stuff dazzles , makes the thing glow in the dark heh. i hope you the best of luck have fun, your arms will be in much better shape when your done

Yeah, Yeah Excilio! Just had to out do me didn't ya!
To everybody else, thanks for the advice. I have already read all the step by steps on the Zaino procedures and have downloaded them and stored them. I'm going to look like a real idiot when I start. I'll have all these printouts in front of me going step by step. Anyone who sees me will think: What, this guy needs directions to wax a car??? Maybe I'll do it in my garage with the door closed to avoid the embarassment!

The most important application tip is already mentioned here but I will emphasize it, USE VERY LITTLE! It does go a very long way. Also and I don't think this was mentioned, there are tips on what direction to apply it on the zainobros.com website which also make a big difference. I have found that although the first couple of steps are time consuming once you are past those it is very quick and well worth the effort.
One more thing, the Z6 between coats and after your last coat also makes a difference in the shine.

Five days since we last heard from Dr Bonz on this project.
What's the deal doc? Have you started?
Your results are going to play a major role in my decision process. Keep us posted....we are watching.

Here's something I wrote up for friends who switched to Zaino after seeing my MR2 Spyder. It's from my perspective and it may have some oversight, but I've tried to be complete. It covers Zaino for start to finish, including the whole Dawn step, etc...
Comments are always welcome.

Questions for you Zaino guys:
How long does it take to do it? Is it easier/shorter each time after the first? How long does it last and hold up to weather?
I'm relatively lazy on weekends and don't know that I can spend a whole afternoon every weekend doing this. I like drive-through car washes
