Default Drivers side tire PSI always a bit higher. Why?

I started noticing this a few weeks ago. When the car is cold, the tire pressure starts out the same 34 lbs in both front tires. After a short bit of driving (15 minutes), the drivers side will show at least 2 lbs more pressure than the other side. What is causing this?? Tire friction?? It's always the drivers side. Both rear tires seem to stay the same cold or warm.. This never happened with the factory Bridgestones. I now have Michilin Pilot Sports on all 4 wheels. They are superior to the factory tires in any road condition.

Use a REAL accurate tire pressure gauge and set all four to the same pressure then try it. Keep in mind that there is a certain degree of inaccuracy in those TPS units.

You may be unlucky enough to have the left two read higher than the right. Then again, it could just be your weight putting additional pressure on that side of the car.

I going to throw in my 2¢ and say that it could even be an alignment issue. The drivers side is out of alignment and the tire is not tracking properly. A little bit of toe-in and the tire is essentially being ever so slightly dragged down the road rather then rolling. This would heat the tire and the air in it increasing the pressure.

[Sorry this doesnt adreess your question but I would like to get your opinion on your tires. Im feathering and it is really loud. Im thinking about changing to the pilot sports after an allignment. How is the noise, wet/dry traction, cornering, etc? ben

Thanks for all the input. I have carefully set the pressure in all 4 tires using a professional gauge. The tire monitors read the exact same as the gauge when the tires are cold so I know the system is working perfect. I have never had a feathering problem. I got just shy of 24,000 miles on the stock factory bridgestones. Acutally, the rear tires wore out faster than the fronts... I really never liked the factory tires and Ive always had great luck with Michilin tires.. I'm very pleased with the Piolt Sports. Really great all weather tires. I chose the same size as the original tires. I didn't think a wider tire was needed. The tires are expensive but well worth it. I may get the alignment checked by an independent place that does only sports cars. Just for the sake of it.. As for my added weight, I weigh 175 and several friends find it hard to believe it would only affect the front. If my weight were an issue, it would also cause the rear drivers side to increase too..

We'll keep you all posted..
