Official ZDayZ 2005 Thread
I didn't know we where having ZDAYZ in Boone Andy??? (j/k, but look where it points to)
Now all you need is to insert #'s for each state. Heck, go all out and make a nice little interactive map where you can click the states and it displays a list of the members/cars attending from each state and their distance. But yeah.... that would probably be useluss and best saved for a nice rainy day when you have all the time in the world.
Hopefully you should be seeing a little influx of locals in the comming weeks, if not then I wasted allot of my time preaching it to them these last two days.

Ohh, by the way. Now might be a good time to announce some of the overflow sites. As it looks you might just need them.
What 140 or so rooms/cabins at FVR and already 110ish taken. Probably allot of last minute people out there who might not know what to do when they find out they can't get a room.

I'll get some solid numbers from FVR today, Mike. If they are near capacity, they (VFR) are supposed to be directing folks to the overflow locations.
And you're absolutely right about the pointer! I've been updating the wrong map!
Will update the the correct one and get it on the website tonight.

Andy,
I think it might be time for you (or anyone else that knows where to look) to start putting together a list of "record" sized meets from other car clubs (Miatas, Minis, etc.) just to see where we end up in comparison to them. Judging by the discussion this is generating and the way rooms/cabins are getting reserved, I'd be willing to bet we will be up there with some of the bigger crowds.
BTW...it was good to see you at VIR. I hope you had as much fun as I did. And your car is too quiet.

It was good to see you as well. I wish I had more time to be sociable at the track instead of changing brake pads after each session.
As far as bigger shows at Fontana, if I remember right I think the Minis had over 400 last year. I think we have a new target number for next year.

Just a heads up, I took the last cabin at Topoco lodge.

Corvette Clubs... several groups, but not sure how many years they have been gathering. Seems each one is in the 50-60 car range
Subaru Meet... in its 5th year. Last year they drew around 60 cars (based on their FVR ballfield picture)
S2000 Meet... happening this weekend for their 3rd year. They are expecting around 100 cars
Mini Coopers... They are in their 3rd year. Their official estimate for this year (May 5-8) is 200 cars and 400 people.
Miatas... I can find no websites with an estimated count, but this is supposed to be the biggest group to visit the Dragon each year, so I'm guessing over 200. Of course, they have a big head start on everyone... they're logging the 9th annual Miatas at the Gap this year!
So, by any measure we're doing well. Really, the only other turnouts we can compare to at this point are Miatas and Minis. Our numbers this year, I think, will place us just behind the Mini Cooper group, but they have a one year lead on us. It may take a little more time to catch the Miata numbers, but by year 9, I'm sure we could do it!
I ordered Sways from Stillen this morning and I mentioned Zdayz and the guy got all excited. I guess the word is out on the scale of the event. Whats our count now? My car will be ready for the show.
I just got off the phone with Fontana Village. Current count is 120 rooms & cabins booked! And we have nearly 70 cars registered for the car show on Saturday!!!
mcduck now beginning to believe we'll break the 200 Z mark!
NOTE! Fontana Village only has a couple cabins left. My contact has told me there 8 newer/renovated cabins available, 9 older Dogwood cabins available, and 7 Camper cabins available (they will give a special rate on the camper cabins of $49 per night if anyone is interested). That's it! Strictly speaking, 8 available cabins and 16 places to stay if your main concern is just having a place to sleep.
We appreciate if you support our host site and help fill at least the 8 nice cabins first. But, at this time, we'd also like to recommend some overflow accomodation sites as it appears they will be necessary.

Thanks, Karl.
Well, I have been saying for months book early or you'll be driving 30 minutes to get to ZDayZ. I think there are 3 or 4 small bike gatherings on the weekend of ZDayZ. I bet that is why Tapoco is full.

That gives me three and a half weeks to get the heads out of the truck, fix them, put it back together, and hopefully run the devil out of her again.
I might need a passenger seat this round if the bottom end is shot in the truck. Any one kind enough to let a fella ride with 'em?
