Exclamation NEWSLETTER #1!!!!

ZDAYZ 2005 - NEWSLETTER #1

January 31, 2005

Greetings, everyone!

It’s time to kick off our official newsletter. This first one is a little longer than most will be. Every couple of weeks, I will be posting more information on the upcoming ZDayZ at Tail of the Dragon event. Hopefully, these messages will provide enough information to whet your appetite for the main event. The newsletters will also be available for download from www.zdayzevents.com.

In the coming weeks, watch for more information on our activities, events, sponsors, and more. My intent is to post the newsletter twice a month… once around the 15th, then again at the end of the each month.

ZDayZ 2005 Sponsors!!!

There are a LOT of people to thank for making ZDayZ possible. To kick things off, we want to say thank you to all our official sponsors for their gracious contributions to the event. In addition, each newsletter will feature spotlight articles about our sponsors. We are happy to say all the 2004 sponsors returned this year and we even managed to add a few new ones. Support ZDayZ 2005 and future ZDayZ events by visiting one or more of corporate sponsors! Click on the sponsors name below to visit their website!

ZDayZ Activities Pricing

We realize many attending ZDayZ may already be spending a great deal on transportation and lodging for the event. Still, in order to provide a quality event as we did last year, there are a few items for which we must ask you to part with a little more of your hard earned money. Though, we feel these items are well worth the expense. Of course, you can enjoy ZDayZ without buying or participating in these items, but we wouldn’t recommend it.

Details for each item will be highlighted in future newsletters. We provide the tentative prices now so you are aware of possible additional expenses for ZDayZ. When we finalize pricing, a form will be provided on our website for those who wish to pre-order and pre-register.

Pre-Event Pricing
Car Show (including 1 BBQ Dinner and 1 ZDayZ T-shirt) = $40
Additional BBQ Dinners (each) = $12
Additional ZDayZ 2005 T-shirts (each) = $16.50

At Event Pricing
Car Show (including 1 BBQ Dinner) = $30
Additional BBQ Dinners (each) = $12
ZDayZ 2005 T-shirts (each) = $18.00

Booking Rooms for ZDayZ

To book your accommodations for ZDayZ 2005, contact our host, Fontana Village Resort at 1-800-849.2258. Details about specific accommodations can be found on their website, www.fontanavillage.com. Use the link for “Accommodations/Rates”. Be sure to mention you are booking a room for the ZDayZ to take advantage of a special 20% discounted group rate for the event.

Featured Sponsor: Fontana Village Resort

Since we just mentioned them, to kick things off in our “Featured Sponsor” section we’d like to give a nod to Fontana Village Resort. This will be the second year they have served as host site to our growing event and from day one they have been as eager as we have to make it succeed.

Fontana Village Resort is located near Fontana, NC and just a short drive from Fontana Dam and Deal’s Gap, home of the infamous Tail of the Dragon. Their facility includes a beautiful lodge, cabins, conference rooms, an activity center, and more. Not only is it an ideal site for ZDayZ, it’s a great place anytime you want to make a mountain getaway. In addition to providing comfortable lodging, Fontana Village provides mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, paintball (summer only), boat rentals, and a wide range of other indoor and outdoor activities on site. For more information, visit www.fontanavillage.com or call 1-800-849-2258.

Back in our fall retreat we talked a little about getting a paintball match going for ZDayZ.

We still gonna try that?

N/A vs F/I?

Z club regional teams?

Old School vs New School?

All I got to say is BRING IT.

By the way for all those interested we did a complete overhaul of the blender . . .its ready for Fontana night life. MTZC and Crawford Z are not holding anything back as usual! We have to out do our last two trips.

Is the $40 for the carshow an entry fee or just to attend?

There is no charge to attend (except for your lodging and meals).

The car show, t-shirts, etc. are what costs extra if you choose to participate, which I recommend you do to get the full benefit of the weekend.

OK, I should clarify my question. What I mean is, does it cost anything to attend the car show? Is the $40 bucks an entry fee or an attendance fee for the car show?
I dont want to show my car, I just want to see the cars.

Thanks

Spectating is free!

The $40 is to enter your car in the show, etc., etc., etc,.

what Randy said... $40 include entering your car in the show. Onlookers can walk around all they want for free!

I should also note that this is not a "concourse judged show". There will be no one walking around with judging ballots scoring entered cars. It is a People's Choice Show, meaning each entrant gets a ballot and selects one car from each class as their favorite. Most votes wins the class... vote lobbying is strictly prohibited. If we find anyone is soliciting/bribing to get more votes, that car is disqualified from award contention. Very simple and offers a chance to win to folks who don't typically compete in "judged" competitions. phew... longer explanation than I wanted to throw out there...

Addressing Adam's comment... no, we will not have a planned paintball event. We decided the only way to do this was during the day and that would detract from driving the mountain roads, which is what the event is most about. We already are asking people sacrifice Sat afternoon some for the car show and Sunday for the group picture. Didn't want to add yet another daytime distraction from driving. Also, I'm pretty sure paintball is a summer only option and may not be available at the time of our show.

I'll be there. I'll have a bunch of changes to my 03 Brick before going. I have to compete with the two kings of the bricks now.

I'll have to talk it over with Bonz, but if you get the Stillen SC in before ZDayZ, we may have to induct you as an honory "Brickyard Brother"

It should be in this week. I am in the process of choosing the right body kit. Should be fun having three awsome bricks at the event.

Do we already have trophies or is someone making them? I ask becasue Zlessnomore and myself are trying to come up with some cool trophies.

I'm glad to see the blender of Doug will be making the trip. That alone makes the trip worth it for me. Can't wait.
