Tire question - NOT FEATHERING RELATED
Ok guys,
Just came back from dealership for first "free" oil change. I asked about rotating tires and they said that they dont do it. When asked why, they laughed and said because the tires are staggered, it wouldn't be right!
Now, I was quite aware of my tires being staggered and that a front tire would not work on the back, but I just assumed they swapped them...LF for RF and RR for RL? No?
They told me the tires will last for 25000 and they will never be rotated? Does this make any sense? How about you Z owners with 30,000 miles? Any insight?
Chris

Tires are directioal. Look for the arrows on the sidewall, The only way to "rotate" them is to dismount them and place them the "other way" on the rims then move them to the other side. The inner edge on the left becomes the outer edge on the right and vice versa.
The Nissan TSB on feathering instructs dealers to do this for "level one" feathering. (Level two is replaing the tires.)

Yep, you gotta pay to play. There are guys that switch to aftermarket rims and put the same size front and back, but it messes with the TCS and VDC just to rotate their tires and save some money on tires.
I wish the aftermarket came out with a "flash" for the ABC/TCS/VDC or I wish Nissan would have made them configurable (ie: you put in your front/rear tire specs in the system).
But ya, rotating left to right is probably more $$ and time than it's worth.
